No difference whether you enter Canada by land or by air. I don't know Canadian immigration law, but if you were a Canadian citizen and a US green card holder and you used Canadian passport to enter US, not green card, then your green card would have been void, i.e. you would have lost the permanent resident status. So, you should consult a Canadian immigration lawyer or check the related Canadian immigration law.
