huh, that is a once-in-a-lifetime experience

i was lucky more than 10 years ago, with my daughter, before the big eruptions that closed the park.
we literally stood by the side of the slow flowing lava like a creek into the ocean.... anything we threw into it got immediately burned up( although this is not allowed, but the ranger there was not that forceful)
you shall try to see if it is possible now.
