I particularly like the first argument about how to integrate into American society. It took me years to reach to the same conclusion. It is true the being an American is about being yourself, find your own path through life and carry on with courage and convocation. If you truly believe in yourself, you can handle any criticism from anyone, and the truth is people will accept you with an open heart if you are worthy.
About discrimination, I think it is got blow out proportion. The truth is you will never be able get everyone like you all the time, so there are always people don't like you or act against you, and it could happen anywhere. Usually you'd find a better solution for any conflict without playing the discrimination card. In most of the cases, claim of discrimination is a double edge sword that is viewed as a good indicator for lack of confidence, and lack of ability to resolve a conflict.
