Models with Bioweapon Defense Mode Standard
-
Tesla Model S: Standard since mid-2018. (It was previously part of the Premium Upgrades Package).
-
Tesla Model X: Standard since mid-2018. (It was previously part of the Premium Upgrades Package).
-
Tesla Model Y: Standard on all Model Y vehicles produced at the Fremont Factory (North America) starting around mid-2021 (specifically, after July 2021). All new Model Y vehicles currently sold include this feature.
-
Tesla Cybertruck: The Cybertruck is also equipped with a massive air filtration system, including a HEPA filter and the Bioweapon Defense Mode functionality.
Model Without Bioweapon Defense Mode
-
Tesla Model 3: The Model 3 does not come with the full Bioweapon Defense Mode. The primary reason, according to Tesla, is that the large HEPA filter required to achieve the necessary filtration and cabin pressurization simply does not fit into the smaller Model 3 chassis.
Retrofit Option
If you have an older Model S, Model X, or a Model Y made before July 2021 that did not originally include the feature, Tesla has offered retrofit packages (for a fee, typically around $300–$400) which include the larger HEPA filter installation and the necessary software activation to enable Bioweapon Defense Mode.
