Symptoms of a failing starter

  • Slow or labored cranking (with a good battery).

  • Clicking sound, no crank.

  • Occasional “dead start” that works on retry.

  • Burnt smell or grinding noises.

 

Typical range: about 100,000 – 150,000 miles
