it's said 5w20 is to reduce engine life. is that true?

it's also said 5w20 increases mpg comparing to 5w30.
I was surprised that your car gets more noise with 5w30 (counter intuitive). Actually if you search around you should see claims that 5w30 provides better lubrication.
It's probably something else. Did they ever put oil @ first place...
