FAMOUS POEM

I hear leaves drinking rain;?
I hear rich leaves on top
Giving the poor beneath
Drop after drop;
’Tis a sweet noise to hear
These green leaves drinking near

And when the Sun comes out,
After this Rain shall stop,
A wondrous Light will fill
Each dark, round drop;
I hope the Sun shines bright;
’Twill be a lovely sight.

“The rain”?is one of the most famous poems??about nature.

1. Are you able to tell what the rhyming pattern is？

Answer：Each?stanza has the following rhyme scheme: ABCBDD, where the matching letters indicate a rhymed pair. So,?the last word of line 2 (B) would rhyme with the last word of line 4 (also B). This means that, in each stanza, the second and fourth lines rhyme, and the final two lines rhyme.

2. How many syllables in each line？

Answer ：6 except line 4 which has 4 syllables.

'Tis = It is

'Twill= It will

In this way，it will be 1 syllable instead of 2 syllables.

3. What poetic techniques did the poet employ？
