【The Hymn To Love】
The blue sky can tumble down upon us
And the earth can also collapse
It doesn't matter, if you love me
I don't care about the entire world
As long as love floods my mornings
As long as my body trembles beneath your hand
These problems don't matter
My love, since you love me
I would go to the end of the earth
I would dye my hair blonde
I would go take down the moon
I would go steal a fortune
If you asked it of me
I would disown my country
I would disown my friends
If you asked it of me
People can have a good laugh at me
I would do anything
If you asked it of me
If one day life tears you from me
If you die that you be far from me
It doesn't matter, if you love me
Because, me, I will die also
We will have eternity for ourselves
In the great blue immensity
In the sky, no more problems
My love, do you believe we love each other
God reunites those who love each other
The lyrics were written by Piaf and the music by Marguerite Monnot. It was written to her lover and the love of her life, the French boxer, Marcel Cerdan.[1] On October 28, 1949, Cerdan was killed in the crash of Air France Flight 009 on his way from Paris to New York to come to see her. She recorded the song on May 2, 1950.[1]
【A Marathon to Paris】
By Tian Yu Zhi
An once in a life time run; an Olympic road to Paris
Fresh morning air along the river Seine
A French kiss under the Arc de Triomphe
1711 steps to the top of the Eiffle Tower
A prayer each night, until three years elapses
Until one night, the tower lights up the city
In sunset, at the moment of our union
Tears, sweat, thorns, solitude, won't stop me
Wildfire, flash flood, virus, sneers, won't deter me
I have miles to run for a golden finish
I zone out in my own sunny music
Singing songs flowing from my heart
I run towards the Sun, it guides me
To be each other's golden prize at the finish
Say goodbye to a world without Olympic Games
Say goodbye to a sky without Eiffel Tower
Show the world an old fashioned romance
With deep yearning, insurmontable trust, and grits
Nothing is impossible, one step at a time
Open the cage now, let go the doves to the blue sky
Give peace to the souls, set hearts free
A marathon to Paris, at last
We drink wine in each other's embrace
