1940年，墨西哥女作曲家、鋼琴家， 年僅二十歲的Consuelo Velázquez （崗賽羅·維拉斯格斯，1920 – 2005）在一次探望病重的親友後，感到人生短暫，要珍惜眼前人，便創作了這首歌 。
這首歌在二戰期間成為懷念在遠方作戰的愛人的最佳情歌。隨後陸續被譯成二十多種語言，唱紅全球。1999年被評為西班牙語演唱、錄音和翻譯最多的歌曲，在眾多的西語國家簡直是無人不曉，無人不唱，被稱作西班牙語世界的”世紀之歌”。
Consuelo Velazquez (Goncero Velazquez, 1920-2005), a 20-year-old Mexican composer and pianist, composed this song in 1940 after visiting a friend who was seriously ill and feeling that life was short and she had to cherish the people in front of her.
During World War II, the song became one of the best love songs to remember loved ones who were fighting far away. Subsequently, it has been translated into more than 20 languages and become a global hit. In 1999, it was rated as the most sung, recorded and translated song in Spanish. It is known and sung in many Spanish speaking countries, and is known as the "song of the century" in the Spanish speaking world.
