秘魯深度17日遊013 - 觀看金剛鸚鵡吃石灰岩的壯觀場麵，牛津湖的絢麗晚霞 (亞馬遜原始森林/熱帶雨林藏地之旅,含1500多張

 

亞馬遜的高潮來了。

 

 

 

 

今天一個重點是看金剛鸚鵡吃石灰岩。

 

 

從這裏進入看鸚鵡的觀測地。

 

 

 

 

邊吃邊等。

 

 

 

 

一批批來，它們先飛到樹上。

 

 

這便是亞馬遜河岸上的高高豎立天然裸露的黏土層土崖，每天清晨都會吸引上百隻的金剛鸚鵡來這裏吃土。

 

這層黏土是因為富含礦物質，或是具有研磨食物的功能嗎？黏土層非常細致，沒有粗礫無法研磨食物。鸚鵡的強而有力的喙可以咬碎很多堅果的外殼，肌胃擁有發達的腺體可以分泌酵素消化食糜。

 

 

研究發現，金剛鸚鵡常年吃果實、種子及果仁，而一些種子和果仁含有很多生物堿，進食過多會讓鸚鵡們不舒服。
鸚鵡們通過吃粘土，讓粘土中的物質與生物堿結合而排出，避免在體內殘留。

 

 

 

研究發現，南美洲有很多鸚鵡，隻有金剛鸚鵡會成群來進食黏土。他們推測，金剛鸚鵡的嘴過於強壯有力，大量啃咬果實、種子及果仁，其生物堿在體內含量相對高一些。

 

 

這裏便是金剛鸚鵡吃黏土的觀望地，我們在這裏靜靜的等候鸚鵡們的到來。

為何鸚鵡要吃黏土？？

在亞馬遜河西部盆地，秘魯境內的長長的河岸，五彩虹色的金剛鸚鵡和其他鸚鵡曾成千上萬。它們來這裏收集粘土，以後他們會在附近的樹上吃東西。

 

 

先後來了90多隻。

這真是一個令人眼花繚亂的奇觀特景，從科學來說還是有點神秘。為什麽各種類型的金剛鸚鵡和其他鸚鵡通常在吃植物時想要在吃些粘土呢？

 

 

 

起初研究表明，粘土可能有助於消除毒素，鳥類從植物中攝取如天然存的單寧。當它們消耗粘土時，它可以通過吸附過程幫助中和這些毒素，其中粘土在胃腸道吸收它們之前先與單寧結合。然後毒素排泄在粘土旁邊。 （有些人還吃或喝粘土來對抗胃病和其他問題，世界各地的許多藥店銷售活性炭，這是另一種吸附劑，可以與毒素或藥物結合，防止它們被胃腸吸收。）

 

 

 

但最近的報告顯示，秘魯的鳥類可能會“使用紅褐色的糞便來幫助增加缺鈉的飲食。研究金剛鸚鵡項目的專家指出，全球其他地區的鸚鵡食用含有毒素的食物，包括含單寧的食物，但隻有來亞馬遜西部盆地的這些粘土堆的鸚鵡們來這裏舔鹽或舔粘土，對這種粘土的食用可能與亞馬遜西部流域缺乏鹽的情況有關。

 

 

 

專家研究了當地的大型金剛鸚鵡群體。大型金剛鸚鵡在2010年以來大幅減少了對粘土舔食，可能是由於植被和土壤條件的變化。 

 

 

 

在秘魯的幾個地區為遊客提供鳥類及其食粘土的觀景點兒，包括秘魯東南部沿著Tambopata河的Tambopata國家自然保護區。根據金剛鸚鵡研究項目，Tambopata擁有“世界上最高密度的舔粘土的金剛鸚鵡”。

From this vantage point we will have great views of riverside birds, sunbathing caiman, and the enormous aquatic guinea pig, the capybara. We reach our Camping Huts deep inside Manu in the afternoon. This will be our base for this and the next day. During this time, we will hike through virgin forest and explore one of the most beautiful lakes of the Manu basin, Lake Salvador, by catamaran. There is a chance to see a huge variety of colorful birds, numerous species of monkey and with luck, a family of giant otters. There is another hike in this habitat-rich forest that ends in Lake Otorongo and a 20 meter-high observation platform overlooking the lake. We take local transportation till crossing the Inambari River. On the other side, our bus is waiting to take you over a newly paved road, through beautiful cloud and elfin forest. Near Cusco, you have stunning views of the Ausangate Mountain.
