E外桃源】Aurora-Yellowkinfe-Great Slave Lake

Do you know Yellowknife? No problem, Yellowknife is an unfamiliar name to many.

Yellowknife, the capital of the Northwest Territories, is an remoted town surrounded by a vast, austere landscape of rock and tundra and water—most notably, the enormous Great Slave Lake, on whose shore the city is built.

Yellowknife is where the highway ends, beyond which, road only exists in winter, called ice-road.

To access Yellowknife, flyingthere by plane is an option. A fascinating way for me  is driving there in a aged-car which has a possibility of broken dwon in the summer (Bacause you then could camp anywhere with a good reason, and the best situation is go together with your  new girl-friend: evil plan!). It is on my to-do list for several years, but never get a chance to make it true.

Yellowknife is famous for Aurora, winter vocation, and fishing, astonishing wilderness.

With a maximum depth of 614 m, surface area of over 28.000 km square, and shoreline of over 3000 km, Great Slave lake secures itself as the second largest water body in Canada, with the largest waterbody, the Bear Lake, locating to its northwest.

Please go through the photos and mark Yellowknife one of your destinations.
