不要溫順地走進那個良宵
白晝雖盡，暮年仍應燃燒狂嘯
怒斥，怒斥光明的消逝！
雖然臨終的智者明知黑暗是其唯一歸屬
因他們的言辭未曾撞擊出閃電般的光芒
他們不會溫順地走進那個良宵
臨終的善者感覺自己已在綠色的港灣舞蹈
聲稱他們那微弱的善行是多麽輝煌
怒斥，怒斥光明的消逝！
狂妄之人，曾追逐、歌頌過翱翔中的太陽
也意識到，雖已太晚，他們曾讓它在途中悲傷
他們不會溫順地走進那個良宵
對於即將進入墳墓之人，臨終時的一切都讓他們眩目
盲眼也能像流星那樣發光，也能表達愉悅之情

注：
1.“ good “在此有諷刺之意，實為”bad”或“sad”。良宵喻死亡，光明喻生命。
2. “their words had forked no lightning”, 指智者認為自己的聰明才智還未創造出像閃電那樣影響世界的成就，心有不甘。
3. “the last wave by”, 指生命處於最後時刻，也即回光返照之時。
4. “ green bay”，綠色港灣，成就和安詳之象。在這種地方翩翩起舞，暗示善者有些洋洋自得，不願過早結束生命，有嘲諷意味。
5. “they grieved it on its way”，指狂妄之人使翱翔中的太陽感到悲傷，其實是他們意識到自己的悲哀，因為他們曾以追逐歌頌太陽為榮，最後卻被太陽拋棄，一事無成，因此他們想回到現實中做些有實際意義的事。
6. “Grave men”，指即將走進墳墓的人，而非指認真嚴肅莊重之人，是對所有臨終者而言，當然也包括前麵提及的三種人。臨終者由於視力極度虛弱，甚至不能睜開眼睛，因此一切都是那樣眩目，就像盲人看世界。但在他們心裏，他們認為自己的眼睛仍然在明亮發光，並能看到常人不能看到的東西，因此不甘心死去。
7. “the sad height”，悲哀之巔，即臨終時刻。
與死神抗爭，不輕言放棄，凸顯生命的力量和偉大！
