天朝玉介紹一首外國詩 （4）我隻想愛你 Je n’ai envie que de t’aimer - Paul Éluard

 

保爾·艾呂雅 Paul Éluard（1895年12月14日－1952年11月18日[1]）法國詩人, 他一生寫詩與戰鬥，參加過達達運動現實主義運動，以及反法西斯鬥爭。他是Surrealism 發起人之一，被公認為最好的超現實主義詩人。他的詩最為明朗流麗、樸素平易，富於抒情意味，散發著生活的氣息。他喜歡追求奇特的比喻，排比的句法。

Je n’ai envie que de t’aimer

 

Un orage emplit la vallée

Un poisson la rivière

Je t’ai faite à la taille de ma solitude.

Le monde entier pour se cacher

Des jours des nuits pour se comprendre

Que ce que je pense de toi

《我隻想愛你》

 

就像一場風暴填滿河穀

一條魚盛滿河流

我把你造得如同我的孤獨一樣大

好讓我們躲進這個完整的世界

日日夜夜相互了解

好使你的眼睛不再看到別的

隻看到我對你的想象

隻看到充滿你形象的一個世界

以及你眼簾下的日日夜夜

I only wish to love you

A storm fills the valley

A fish the river

 

I have made you the size of my solitude

The whole world to hide in

Days and nights to understand

 

To see no more in your eyes

Than what I think of you

我本來沒打算翻譯這首詩的，後來發現中文譯本有的地方翻譯得不夠確切流暢，就試著翻譯了一下。我對英語法語的理解，以及寫詩的經曆或許對我的翻譯有所幫助。

 

I believe Paul wrote this poem for his first love and Russian wife Gala. They met when they were teenagers. She wrote to him that “you will become a great poet”. She became his muse and the critic and had significant influence on him. In 1922, Paul, Max Ernst (German painter) and Gala entered into a ménage à trois and lasted for three years. Later on,  Gala met Salvador Dalí, the prominent Spanish surrealist artist and became Gala Dalí and remained with him for the rest of her life. She was the model behind many of his paintings, an interesting woman of her time, who inspired many other writers and artists.
