警花的成長-50 battle ground

謝謝寵壇各位叔叔阿姨的祝福和鼓勵。祝福的話永遠不嫌多。警花媽媽雖然不能一一感謝，大家的祝福都收藏轉帶給警花了。

星期二，跟radiation oncologist 電話長談了一下。他說雖然這個技術在寵物醫院治療的data不多，但從有限的data來看，效果還不錯。特別是adrenal gland tumor, most tumors shrink 30% and patients can live about 3 years. It is minimal invasive, side effects is not very significant. Maybe some irritation, diarrhea. Most patient tolerant the treatment without significant side effects. But the tumor is very close to her right kidney, maybe can cause a little damage.

想到手術時的consult說的可能要切斷 part of liver, maybe kidney, 而且要在大動脈和靜脈周圍動手，這些副作用不值一提了。而且也沒有可能當天見不到的可能性，警花的腫瘤可能是locally aggressive, 這個治療雖然不能像手術那樣拿掉它，能縮小或維持現狀也行。畢竟她已經12歲了，如果8歲以下，我還是會選擇手術。12歲的German shepherd 相當於七八十歲的老人，手術不僅危險，恢複也是問題。如果radiation 挺過去，能活3 年，她15 歲了。 想來想去，決定stereotactic radiation. 現在還不知道這個決定是否正確，但盡力了。

既然決定了，把周三的手術取消了。radiation oncologist needs Addional CT for positioning purpose. We decided to do another CT on Wednesday. He also wanted to do Cushings disease test to see if the excessive thirst and urination is due to Cushings disease. That was scheduled on Friday. 
 

The second CT scan is 2weeks from the first, the tumor size remains the same. Her Cushings test is back positive. So it's very likely her tumor is producing excessive hormones causing the Cushing disease. That being said, the tumor is likely a slow growing benign tumor. As long as the treatment can shrink or maintain the size, we can live with it.
