SAN DIEGO -- Yonder Alonsos propensity for hitting doubles helped his team to another win. Air Max 90 Noir Pas Cher . Alonso went 2 for 4 with 3 RBIs and the San Diego Padres used a five-run fourth inning to beat the Houston Astros 8-4 on Wednesday. With two more doubles on Wednesday, Alonso has 23 this year and has hit two or more in a game seven times this season, which is a franchise record. Adrian Gonzalez and Tony Gwynn held the previous mark with six each. "Thats pretty unique," Alonso said. "It feels good when youre in the company of those guys. I knew what was going on and the guys on the team were making jokes about it. Its a cool moment for myself." Clayton Richard (7-10) allowed four runs in 8 1-3 innings to snap a two-game losing streak. The left-hander gave up nine hits, including two home runs by Matt Downs and struck out two. "Its so nice to have that type of padding in the game," Richard said. "You know you can make a couple of mistakes." Richard fell short of his first career complete game and added an RBI double in the sixth. "When you come to the ballpark as a starting pitcher, thats what you want to do," Richard said. "Its disappointing not making a few pitches at the end there to go through with it." The Padres won for the fourth time in five games. "It was a good performance today with contributions all around the lineup," Padres manager Bud Black said. "Its like weve talked about that its going to take all of our guys to get it done, and today was a good example of a lineup contributing top to bottom." After Carlos Corporan singled to chase Richard in the ninth, Nick Vincent got one out, but walked Jordan Schafer to put the tying run on deck. Huston Street entered and struck out Scott Moore to convert his 15th save. "Weve talked about Claytons work ethic and what he does between starts, and hes equipped for a complete game," Black said. "I was pulling hard for him." Downs three-run home run in the sixth landed in the first deck of the Western Metal Supply Co. building in left field. He hit a solo shot off Richard in the ninth, also to left and has three home runs against Richard this season. Houston has lost 14 of 15 games on the road. "Hes very good," Downs said of Richard. "I think its just he made two mistakes and I think they were both to me." After Astros starter Wandy Rodriguez retired the first nine batters, the Padres broke through in the fourth. The first six batters reached base, highlighted by Alonsos and Chris Denorfias run-scoring hits. Rodriguez also walked two in the inning and threw a wild pitch as San Diego built a 5-0 lead. "Its kind of tough to put your full finger on," Astros manager Brad Mills said. "Thats kind of been his Achilles heel, being able to stop those from getting started." Rodriguez (7-8) allowed five runs and four hits over four innings, snapping a streak of 48 games in which the left-hander had lasted at least five innings. "He didnt want to come out of the game, but we had to try to get a run on the board," Mills said. Alonsos double in the seventh scored Denorfia and gave San Diego an 8-3 lead. Chase Headley scored on a Houston defensive breakdown in the fifth as Enerio Del Rosario threw wide of first base on an attempted pickoff. Headley ran to third and Downs skipped the ball past Chris Johnson as Headley scored. Notes: Padres CF Cameron Maybin was scratched from the starting lineup with soreness in his right wrist. ... Astros C Jason Castro was to have his knee drained on Wednesday but is not expected to join the team this week. ... Lucas Harrell (7-6, 4.43 ERA) will take the mound for Houston in the final game of the series on Thursday. Edinson Volquez (5-7, 3.69) will start for San Diego. Nike Air Max 1 Homme Verte Rouge Chaussures .C. "Last year didnt go the way we wanted it to, but we need to look at what went well and what didnt go so well. Hopefully this year we will be better," Brendan Gallagher said after practice. This year, the Canadiens have a little more depth to work with by adding players like Daniel Briere, Dale Weise, Mike Weaver, Douglas Murray and arguably, the biggest addition to this playoff roster, Thomas Vanek, who the Canadiens were able to land at the trade deadline. PHILADELPHIA -- Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. didnt see a reason to wait until the off-season to explore other possibilities. The Philadelphia Phillies removed the interim tag from Ryne Sandberg, signing him Sunday to manage the next three years. "I think this is the right person to take us forward," Amaro explained on the decision not to wait. "I know his philosophy on the importance of cohesiveness throughout the organization, and thats exactly what were looking for. I know he understands the importance of player development and scouting, hes got an idea and a vision of whats necessary to move this organization forward." Sandberg had been serving as interim manager since the Phillies fired Charlie Manuel on Aug. 16. He entered the season as the Phillies third-base coach after managing the teams Triple-A Lehigh Valley club for two years previously. The move was not a surprise, but Sandberg expressed his relief that it finally became official. "I think theres been a very large weight lifted off of me," Sandberg said. "Im still focused on the last eight games -- still focused on todays game to tell you the truth -- but Im looking forward to not only the eight games left but to 2014 and getting the wheels turning in that direction." Before joining the Phillies organization, Sandberg managed in the Chicago Cubs minor-league system for four years. As a player, Sandberg spent 15 of 16 major-league seasons with the Cubs. He left the organization in 2010 shortly after Chicago named Mike Quade its manager to join the Phillies, the team that originally drafted him and ultimately traded him to the Cubs in 1982. Inducted into the Hall of Fame in 22005, Sandberg hopes to overcome the notion that Hall of Fame players cant make good managers. Homme Sneakerboot Nike Air Max 90 Noir/Gris/Blanche Running Chaussures. "I dont know too many Hall of Famers who went to the minor leagues for six years to work their way up," Sandberg said. "I thought it was necessary. It was also the only job that was offered at the time -- that had something to do with it. As it turns out, it was the right path." The new skipper also believes he can succeed because hes a great communicator. "Communication is one of my strengths, which is ironic because as a player I think I wasnt strong at all at communicating. I was focused on catching the ball and hitting it, and it kind of stopped there," Sandberg said. "That was all part of going to the minor leagues and aging a little bit and maturing. "And I think raising five kids in the house, all teenagers at once, I think the communication skills really developed then too, and its continued." Since Sandberg took over in mid-August, the Phillies have gone 18-16. They were 53-67 at the time he took over the ballclub. "Based on the body of work that he did for us, we had to kind of take that into account," Amaro said. "It was very, very clear to me right from the get-go the way he handled the transition, which was a very difficult period, having to take over for an icon of sorts in Phillies history in Charlie (Manuel). "It was a very difficult circumstance, and he handled it well. He handled the players well and he handled the clubhouse well. I really liked the instincts and how he handled things." Sandberg signed a three-year contract, taking him through 2016 with a club option for 2017. Cheap Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Cheap Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap Jerseys China Wholesale Jerseys ' ' '
