ATLANTA -- Craig Kimbrel found ninth-inning drama before a big stretch by Freddie Freeman saved the night for the Braves.www.officialnflseahawksfansstore.com/nike-brandon-mebane-seahawks-jersey/ . Justin Upton hit a three-run homer to continue another strong April, Ervin Santana earned his third win and the Atlanta Braves held off the Cincinnati Reds 5-4 on Friday night. Kimbrel gave up a leadoff single to Roger Bernadina and walked Zack Cozart to open the ninth. Kimbrel struck out Brayan Pena and Chris Heisey before earning his seventh save on Joey Vottos groundout. Freeman made a long stretch at first base for Chris Johnsons throw from third base on Heiseys groundball. Reds manager Bryan Price challenged first base umpire Vic Carapazzas ruling that Freemans foot remained on the bag. The call was confirmed, ending the game. "Freddie did a terrific job staying on the bag," said Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez. He acknowledged he was nervous about the challenge before seeing the replay on the video board "and I felt kind of relaxed." Price said that when looking across the field he thought he saw "a huge gap" between Freemans foot and the bag. He said he agreed with the confirmed out call after seeing the replay. "I had a chance to come up here and look at our own video, which is what theyre getting in New York, and it was a confirmed out call," Price said. "They got the call right in the end, which is what were looking for." Two Cincinnati players left the game with injuries. Third baseman Todd Frazier was pulled in the fifth with tightness in his left leg. Catcher Devin Mesoraco strained his left hamstring and stumbled after rounding third base in the seventh, before limping across home plate. Price said he was protecting Frazier, who had previous tightness in his groin. Santana (3-0) gave up four runs on nine hits in 6 2-3 innings. Following singles by B.J. Upton and Freddie Freeman off Homer Bailey (1-2) in the first inning, Justin Upton hit his team-leading sixth homer. He leads the team with 15 RBIs. "Weve seen him do this before and carry us for a while," Gonzalez said. In 2013, Justin Upton led the majors with 12 homers in April, becoming the fastest player in Braves franchise history to reach the mark. He has hit 35 homers in April for his career, his highest total for any month. "Im just getting it going," said Upton, who is hitting .296 and leads the team with 15 RBIs. Freeman had three hits for Atlanta to shake a mini-slump. B.J. Upton, who was hitting .205, had one hit in his first game wearing prescription glasses. "Well see how the glasses work and if Ill keep them," he said. "I could see the ball better on both sides of the plate. It was good tonight." Bailey allowed five runs on nine hits in six innings. He allowed at least four earned runs for the fourth time in five starts this season and has a 6.15 ERA. The Braves increased their lead to 4-0 in the second on Jason Heywards RBI single. Evan Gattis drove in a run in the third for a 5-0 lead. Jay Bruce had a run-scoring single in the Reds two-run sixth. Cincinnati added two more in the seventh, knocking Santana out of the game. Mesoraco scored on Billy Hamiltons double. Votto had a run-scoring single off Luis Avilan. A strong defensive play by right fielder Jason Heyward helped Santana in the first inning. Votto doubled with one out in the first and moved to third on Phillips bloop single. Votto was thrown out at the plate on a strong throw by Heyward on Jay Bruces fly ball. Votto, sliding head-first, was tagged out in the batters box and never reached the plate. NOTES: Price said closer Aroldis Chapman, recovering from facial fractures and a mild concussion when hit by a line drive on March 19, will throw 35 to 40 pitches in batting practice on Saturday. If it goes well, it should be Chapmans final test before he is cleared for a minor league rehab assignment. ... Braves RHP David Hale will look for his first win of the season when he faces Reds RHP Mike Leake on Saturday. www.officialnflseahawksfansstore.com/nike-bobby-wagner-seahawks-jersey/ .ca. Even after the late injury dramas within the All Blacks squad, with captain Richie McCaw, Dan Carter and Mils Muliaina dropping out of the match, they were still far too superior to a second-string Japan. A gut-wrenching 2011 is over for Sam (Hands of Stone) Stout. Now its time to get back to work. The lightweight from London, Ont., returns to the cage Saturday night at UFC 142 in Brazil for the first time since coach, brother-in-law and friend Shawn Tompkins died unexpectedly in August of a heart attack during a training trip to Hamilton. Tompkins was just 37. Stout, who had a highlight-reel win at UFC 131 in June, called 2011 "a big roller-coaster ride." "Theres been some really high highs and some really low lows and thats a bit of an understatement even," he said. "Its been a very difficult year for me and a very great year for me." Stout (18-6-1) takes on Brazilian Thiago Tavares (20-4-1) at UFC Rio at HSBC Arena on the undercard of the featherweight title fight between champion Jose Aldo and Chad Mendes. Stout was due to meet Dennis Siver on Oct. 29 at UFC 137, but withdrew because mentally he wasnt ready. Donald (Cowboy) Cerrone stepped in for him, stopping the German in dominant fashion. "It was a little too soon for me," said the 27-year-old Stout. Tompkins death came two months after a career high for Stout, who stopped veteran Yves Edwards in the first round at UFC 131 in Vancouver with what UFC president Dana White called "one of the most vicious knockouts in UFC history. If not the most vicious." Stout, crediting a pre-fight tip from Tompkins, knocked Edwards him senseless with a looping left hook to the jaw. Edwards (40-17-1) toppled backwards and didnt move. Stout closed for the kill, but held back from punching when he saw Edwards was out. The sudden, savage end earned Stout a $70,000 bonus for knockout of the night. But all the good times were swallowed up when Tompkins passed away. Stout looked to find his balance and says Dale Hunter, a friend and former coach of the London Knights who is now behind the Washington Capitals bench, helped him get there. "One time he said to me, No matter what happens, dont let your peaks get too high and dont let your valleys get too low. So thats what Ive been trying to think about." Still, he acknowledges it has been one day at a time. "It took me a while to really start to think about how Im going to deal with fighting without Shawn, because hes been in my corner for every fight Ive ever had. Thats dating back to my first amateur kickboxing fight. Ive never once trained for a fight without him, Ive never fought without him being there. "Its definitely going to be on my mind the day of the fight but Im going to make him proud. I know hes still here in spirit and he wouldnt want me to let his passing affect my career and slow me down. He would want me to keep moving on and keep doing whaat he trained me to do. www.officialnflseahawksfansstore.com/nike-j-r--sweezy-seahawks-jersey/. ." The cageside bond between the two was easy to see. Tompkins would yell out instructions and Stout, without thinking, would immediately put them into effect. Stout will have fellow fighter Mark (The Machine) Hominick and jiu-jitsu coach Keebo Robinson with him in Brazil. Stout has also won four UFC fight of the night bonuses -- money that helped him pay for his Dads driveway, buy his car outright, put a down payment on a house and open a gym. This time he landscaped his backyard, made some investments and "had a pretty fun summer" travelling. That included a trip to New York to visit Brandon Prust, a close friend who plays for the Rangers. He shared the wealth prior to UFC 131, joining Tompkins to take part in an event to raise money and awareness for anti-bullying and abuse against women. Stout, who spent part of his training camp in Las Vegas where he used to stay and train with Tompkins, says he is ready physically and mentally for Brazil. "Ive had a lot of obstacles to deal with but for some reason Ive got a really good feeling about this one." Tavares is a talented if hot-and-cold fighter who has alternated wins and losses recently. He is coming off a second-round TKO over Spencer (The King) Fisher at UFC 137 in Rio in August. A muscular lightweight, Tavares has three fight of the night bonuses of his own. But its hard to know which Tavares will show up. "Ive seen him come out and look like hes unstoppable, like hes going to run through everybody in the division," said Stout. "Then Ive also seen him come out and not be as impressive. Hes been knocked out twice -- once by a guy I beat, Matt Wiman ... I feel like I have better striking than him (Wiman) so if he can knock him out, I dont see any reason why I shouldnt be able to." Assuming he gets through Tavares, Stout can see a Cerrone fight on the horizon. Cerrones title aspirations were dented somewhat when he was beaten comprehensively by Nate Diaz last time out. Stout, who is 6-5 in the UFC but 4-1 in his last five fights, is also looking forward to competing in Brazil. "I think its going to pose some interesting challenges but also I think its going to be a great experience. Going to Brazil has always been on my bucket list." "I like to experience as much as I can in martial arts," he added. "Ive fought in Japan, Ive fought in the U.K. a couple of times. Brazils just another conquest for me. Going from winter in Canada to summer in Brazil will be one of the challenges, as will the late start time of the card although he reckons the Brazilians may feel that more than the visitors. Stout plans to stay on Eastern time this week. cheap jerseys cheap jerseys from china ' ' '
