何是何非一筆休，風吹牆草兩騎牛。
欲求逸世空超脫，無奈秦坑不我由。

《起初他們……》（英語：First they came...）是德國著名神學家兼信義宗牧師馬丁·尼莫拉的一首詩（懺悔文）。這首詩被鐫刻在美國麻薩諸塞州波士頓的新英格蘭猶太人大屠殺紀念碑石碑上。

他們殺共產黨時，
我沒有出聲
——因為我不是共產黨員；

接著他們迫害猶太人，
我沒有出聲
——因為我不是猶太人；

然後他們殺工會成員，
我沒有出聲
——因為我不是工會成員；

後來他們迫害天主教徒，
我沒有出聲
——因為我是新教徒；

最後當他們開始對付我的時候，
已經沒有人能站出來為我發聲了。
