命運羞辱人眼白， When, in disgrace with fortune and men's eyes,
我獨向隅被棄態 I all alone beweep my outcast state
徒擾聾天哭無賴 And trouble deaf heaven with my bootless cries
低看自己咒命乖，And look upon myself and curse my fate,
願己如人多期待 Wishing me like to one more rich in hope,
也效某人友似海，Featured like him, like him with friends possess'd,
羨此才華彼胸懷，Desiring this man's art and that man's scope,
敝帚自珍帚不在； With what I most enjoy contented least;
當此愁思自怨艾，Yet in these thoughts myself almost despising,
念你欣喜釋壘塊， Haply I think on thee, and then my state,
好似雲雀破曉霾 Like to the lark at break of day arising
直上天門聖歌凱； From sullen earth, sings hymns at heaven's gate;
憶你珍愛寶藏開 For thy sweet love remember'd such wealth brings
換我王位不屑改。 That then I scorn to change my state with kings.
