Kris B.'s Logic

(2022-02-16 08:38:09) 下一個

In this WXC post, Kris B.'s apology for his poor job performance left his boss

speechless. Below, I just jotted down what I heard from the video.

Boss: Mainly I would like to discuss your performance difference of last year

and 2020. You were rated the top employee in 2020 but it doesn't feel like

you were nearly as present or focused since then.

Kris: Yeah. Yeah.

Boss: What's changed?

Kris: Well. 2020 was the 2nd year in a roll I didn't get a raise even though I

was the top employee and when I asked why I couldn't get a raise, you said

it was because my position, oh no, my pay was "a fair market value for my

position." and when I asked where my pay fell on the pay scale, you said

it was below the median. So it was below the average I could make at my

position. At that moment I just decided I was going to become a

fair-market-value employee and put in below-average amount of effort

because that's what I feel what you pay me to do. You created an

environment where there is no incentive for me to work hard. So I don't.

Kris might need to look for a new job but his logic pointed to an option,

putting in below-average effort for a below-average pay, which I wouldn't have

considered before 40.
