她是歡樂的幻像 She was a phantom of delight 
當第一次閃現在我眼前； When first she gleam'd upon my sight;
一個可愛的幽靈，A lovely apparition, sent
上天送來美化瞬間; To be a moment's ornament;
她的眼睛似美妙黃昏時的星辰；Her eyes as stars of twilight fair;
她深色的頭發也宛如淡淡暮光; Like twilight's, too, her dusky hair;
但她身上的其他一切 But all things else about her drawn
透著五月的春光和歡樂的黎明;  From May-time and the cheerful dawn;
一個舞蹈造型，一個歡快的形象 A dancing shape, an image gay,
都會讓人思念縈繞，震撼，心智迷亂。To haunt, to startle, and waylay.

我靠近些觀察她， I saw her upon nearer view,
一個精靈，卻又是一個女人! A Spirit, yet a Woman too!
她做家務的動作輕盈從容， Her household motions light and free,
