一句起敬意的忠告

點開文學城雜亂的首頁，一路尋來，像從菜市場拐進小胡同。迫不及待留下這一句馬可•奧勒留，這位古羅馬皇帝寫的句子。於是，文學城般的雜亂，再不幹擾我，它們都隱退到了腦後：

If thou workest at that which is before thee, following right reason seriously, vigorously, calmly, without allowing anything else to distract thee, but keeping thy divine part pure, as if thou shouldst be bound to give it back immediately; if thou holdest to this, expecting nothing, fearing nothing, but satisfied with thy present activity according to nature, and with heroic truth in every word and sound which thou utterest, thou wilt live happy. And there is no man who is able to prevent this.

當你做擺在你麵前的工作時，你要認真地遵循正確的理性，精力充沛，寧靜致遠，不分心於任何別的事情，而保持你神聖的部分純淨，仿佛你必定要直接把它歸還似的；若你堅持這一點，無所欲望亦無所畏懼，滿足於你現在合乎本性的活動，滿足於你說出的每個詞和音節中的勇敢的真誠，你就能生存得幸福。沒有任何人能阻止這一點。
