1923because dying is the most alive you’ll ever feel’

(2025-05-03 12:08:46) 下一個

It was fortunate that we managed to get Dr. Miller sober.
Otherwise this straight line
would've been more like a question mark.
- [Elizabeth] Does my mother know?
- We've sent for her.
Don't like this fever.
The doctor said no aspirin.
Can I run you a bath?
- I'll go get some water.
- No, you, you don't need to be carrying anything.
- I got one good arm.
(gentle music)
- Where is she?
- She's upstairs.
- Take me to her.
What an ordeal you've endured.
What did the doctor say about travel?
- Well, he didn't mention travel, but I'll--
- [Beverly] I'll send for a motor car.
We'll get you to Livingston and then on the train.
- Why a train?
A train to where?
- Back east to a hospital.
This is no place to recover.
This is no place to be at all.
- What about the wedding?
- [Beverly] What wedding?
- My wedding.
- They killed your wedding
when they killed your father, sweetheart.
If you still wish to have her hand,
I suggest you pack your things.
Any reason I have for living in this godless place is dead.
- Well, no disrespect, Ms. Strafford, I ain't marrying you.
- Jack.
(face slaps)
(face slaps)
I'll discipline my own nephew, thank you very much.
- [Beverly] Where's my husband?
- Ice house.
I'll take you.
- [Beverly] I will find my own way.
- Well, it appears you have plenty to discuss.
(gentle music)
This is your home now if you choose it.
- I choose it.
- Suppose you don't have much to discuss after all.
(door slams)
(glass shatters)
- This isn't what you promised.
- Okay, you haven't lost anything that I haven't lost.
I'm an orphan too now
and all we have is each other and I don't even have that.
Our wedding day came and went with no mention of it.
We don't, we don't speak, you don't even touch me.
I've got just as much right to hate the man as you do,
but I don't because hate takes your whole heart.
Every bit of it.
Hate leaves no room for love.
I choose not to hate him
so that there is room in my heart for you.
If you won't do the same for me, then take me to town.
Send me home, Jack.
(gentle music)
(gentle music continues)
(door slams)
Look at the size of this prison.
That is what I am in Jack.
- No, you're not. - It's a prison.
You have made this place a prison.
- It's not a prison.
It's not.
It's home.
It's your home.
I'm your husband.
- Not yet you aren't.
- We don't need a wedding to get married.
We don't need a church.
We're standing in front of God right now.
I, Jack Dutton, take you, Liz Strafford
to be my lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold
in sickness and in health for richer and for poorer,
for better or worse so long as we both shall live.
(gentle music continues)
We're only half done.
You gotta say it back.
(gentle music continues)
(door slams)
- We should probably...
Do you think we could...
I would like to set a date for the wedding.
- I'm sure you would, dear,
but we should wait until the spring.
- I'm afraid, I don't think my dress will fit in the spring.
- There isn't enough rum cake in Montana
to put pound on you, girl.
- Not because of cake.
We said our vows,
we just left the law out of it
and the preacher and everyone else.
- That is the first good news
these ears have heard in months.
(gentle music)
Yes, we will plan a small wedding very soon
with a preacher who knows how to backdate the license,
if you know what I mean.
- Well, they can do that.
- It's a savior of countless reputations, my dear.
(gentle music continues)
- I don't hear anything.
Supposed to hear him moving around.
- Not yet.
It'll be six months or more.
- You don't look pregnant.
- I will be in time.
Trust me.
I'll be milk cow fat with cheeks like a beaver.
(both laughing)
- Well, if I can't hear it, I can't feel it
and you won't show for months, how do you know?
- Men sure know how to make babies,
but boy is that where the knowledge stops.
I missed my monthly visitor
and then I was dizzy
and then I was nauseous.
Do you need more proof?
- Well is there more proof?
- Well, there is, but that's all I'm gonna share.
That's the past.
This is the future.
We're a year away from making another, Jack.
- Well, I was thinking
this is a pretty good opportunity to practice.
- Practice? - Mhmm.
- Well practice is how we got into this.
- Well, year's a long time.
I'll forget everything.
I mean, look at it like this, you can't get more pregnant.
- I can't believe that's the line that sells me.
- 'Cause you see the logic in it.
(gentle music continues)
(gentle music continues)
- When will you be back? - This evening.
- Be careful.
- Well, this coward couldn't kill me
when he had the jump on us.
Damn sure ain't killing me when we have the jump.
- Say it.
- I'll be careful.
- I love you.
(gentle music continues)
(gentle music continues)
(gentle music continues)
How's this?
- All the lumps must be gone.
- I have much more respect for bakers
than I did yesterday.
- There's a measure of labor that goes into it.
(gentle music continues)
Got caught in the rain?
- Little bit.
- We're baking a cake.
- I can see that.
What's the celebration?
- You coming home.
- We do that every night.
If you're gonna bake us a cake every evening,
we're gonna need bigger horses.
(gentle music continues)
- What happened?
- He's where he belongs.
- Where does he belong?
- In jail awaiting a trial
where he will be convicted and sent to the gallows.
- Thank you.
- Where's Jack?
- He's right behind me putting up the horses.
Dramatical little thing, isn't she?
- It's like having a new puppy.
- Yeah, I remember when you were the new puppy.
- No, you don't.
(gentle music)
(gentle music continues)
(gentle music continues)
- Told you there was nothing to worry about.
- You said evening.
- I did.
- You're late.
- I'm a little late.
(gentle music continues)
I can't wait to see what I get
when I've been gone for a week.
- You're not allowed to be gone for a week.
(gentle music continues)
- You okay?
- Belly hurts.
- Can I get you something?
- Soda water maybe.
(Elizabeth grunts)
(dramatic music)
(Elizabeth sobs) (dramatic music continues)
- [Cara] She feeling better?
- Asked for some soda water.
- No, no, that won't help.
Peppermint tea, yes.
(gentle music)
- [Elizabeth] Jack.
(dramatic music)
(gentle music)
(gentle music continues)
- She's stable now.
The bleeding has stopped.
She flushed the baby though.
I'm sorry.
I'll check on her in the evening.
(gentle music continues)
(gentle music continues)
- [Jack] How you feelin'?
- Like a failure.
- It's just nature looking out for you.
Things weren't right, nature took care of it.
It happens to horses, it happens to cattle.
- It happens to cattle, you sell them.
- Well, you ain't getting sold
if that's what you're worried about.
- It's my one purpose on this planet.
If I can't do it then what the hell am I here for?
- Well, my aunt never had children.
You saying she got no purpose?
She raised me,
raised my father,
nursed my uncle back to life.
You too.
No telling how many lives she nursed away
from death during the war.
When I look at my aunt and all I see is purpose.
Maybe that's your purpose too.
Be a mother of those who ain't got one.
A teacher to those who need lessons.
We choose our purpose.
Words you're looking for is destiny
and if you wanna give God a good laugh,
you tell him what you think your destiny is.
- And if I can't ever have children?
- Then you can't have children.
- Then you'll never be a father.
- Guess it ain't my destiny.
You're my destiny.
- You just said you can't choose destiny.
You chose me.
- One look at you and I had no choice at all.
Destiny.
And think all the things God had to give you
to make you choose me.
Poor judgment, bad vision, terrible taste in men.
(gentle music)
We take what life gives us.
It's all we can do.
(gentle music continues)

Spencer Dutton (Cast: Brandon Sklenar): His voice one of a kind, sexy and handsome.

Alexandra (Cast: 1923: Julia Schlaepfer Interview = Kissing Confessions!), Countess of Essex (The Royal family)! Her innocent and pride look!

It was a breaking point moment of love at first sight!
Their love story and the love stories in 1883 were some of the best I’ve ever seen.

We're one now. When the sun hits your face, I'm your shadow.

Because dying is the most alive you’ll ever feel

This is the most amazing chemistry I've seen on film in a long time, if not the best! Just wow. The Acting, the dialogue… but the chemistry between the two of them is so captivating

His eyes widening for a second at 2:41 that shows that Spencer instantly fell in love with Alex at that moment and simultaneously how she kept looking back at him when her friends pulled her away.

Her delivery at 2:33, coupled with the instrumental in the background and Spencer's gaze in response, completely takes you over. I get goosebumps!

Alex: "There is no sending for me, Spencer. We have a life together, or we live our lives apart. Can you do that? Can you live your life without me?
You only get to choose me once. The choice will not be offered again."

These lines forever changed my perspective on love and relationships.

It is quite embarrassing how frequently I have viewed this video at this point, particularly considering that I have not even watched the show. The affection between these two individuals is truly beautiful to observe. The love between these two is just beautiful to witness. I can't seem to stop coming back to it LOL.

Oh God, she is perfect—a dream, an angel, and a goddess so real and breathtaking as to make a man follow her to the ends of the earth just to be near her!

If ever there were, star-crossed lovers are almost at the Claire and Jamie level (Outlander), which is very high praise! Their chemistry is off the charts! 1923 ranks up there with the best I’ve ever seen—not only Alex and Spencer’s story, but all the stories weaving together finally into one. The series has been renewed for another season, thank goodness! I am totally hooked.

Spencer did say, "I'll tell you a dream. In my heart, I know it was wrong to take you. And everything that happened up to now was a sign. A warning. The elephant, the lions, and the shipwreck were warning signs. It was all the universe telling me to put you back. I'm just too fucking selfish to do it.

Alex: "So, my dream is that the universe is wrong. And you're mine to keep."

I think the "cowboy camp" is like a "get to know each other" thing, just as important as learning how to ride horses correctly. People get to know each other so much better when they spend time with each other that way. There are no spouses, children, or parents involved.

I am thrilled to watch season 2! My gosh! Taylor Sheridan is hardcore about writing this magnificent series! Please Urgent!!!!

Brandon reminds me of Tom Selleck and Sam Elliot in the 70s when they made Westerns - tough, rugged, man's man.

Knowing that Brandon and Julie had 6 weeks of riding camp is encouraging. This implies that they will both eventually reach Yellowstone. However, given that Sheridan has placed a significant and, in my opinion, unnecessary hindrance in their path, it's uncertain when they will arrive.

I thought the whole encounter with Arthur Sussex and his family was unrealistic. What are the odds of all of them running into each other at the same restaurant, port, and then shipping at the same time? Spencer and Alex have already experienced enough hardship.

They should've reached Montana in episode 8. So now who knows WHEN the two of them will reach Montana? Alex might be locked up by her own family since she's disgraced them. Alex might be stuck in a "Jane Austin" soap opera and be forced to marry someone else, live as a spinster in her family's home, unless she's pregnant.

Then they probably will get rid of her to save face and "no never more to see her again."  But all of that could take two or three seasons, depending on how much Taylor Sheridan wants to stretch it out.

The characters and acting by both Brandon and Julia are so incredible that they could have their own mini-series. Spencer fights lions and leopards for a living. Indian Jones never fought lions and elephants. Brandon is John Wayne and Errol Flynn - major hard-asses, significant sex symbols, war heroes, and men of honor. Shall we put a red "S" on his chest? lol

1923: Julia Schlaepfer Interview = Kissing Confessions!

1923 star Julia Schlaepfer (Alexandra) gave us the scoop on her steamy kissing scenes with Spencer Dutton actor Brandon Sklenar. https://youtu.be/YUZCy1I9cm8?si=a6X_2BDw33AKBq41 1923's young lovers could not get a happy ending, not only in the series, but also in real life. After months of speculation, the "will they - won't they" drama, jealousy, and passion, this week it became certain that some things went terribly wrong between Brandon and Julia. And now, despite all the support from the fandom, there is no more hope for this love story.

How could they help themselves? They're both gorgeous!

Doesn't that happen a lot in Hollywood? It keeps interest up in the show. It's publicity.

Why is there a conversation  about this? If they had something that's private. Why is there a problem? Let's not ruin anyone's reputation.  It's not good spilling the tea. His girlfriend is up set. Let them straighten this out privately.  They are human. I feel for anyone in this situation.

Whoever the actor is that Played Spencer he was clearly very attracted to Julia in real life that's when he should have ended it with his real-life girlfriend. . Hec if I were a woman in a relationship with a man and can see he is powerfully drawn to someone else I sure as hell wouldn't want him after that anyway. Furthermore, I have to agree with one of the other commentators here. If you're NOT married, you most certainly have the right to leave, and no one should be jumping up and down and screaming and shouting.
Boyfriends and girlfriends come and go all the time; there is no ring on anyone's finger.
Oh, OK the actors name is Brandon, well his girlfriend had an audacity that was way out of line. He was not her husband.

Brandon's real life girlfriend is a fool, because if it's happened once, it could well happen again, especially in the industry he is working in.

Dont care either way what he does in his personal life. Feelings change, people change. As long as you're not married, you have the right to leave.

I think he went too far. If it was just acting," then he gets an award! Because I really feel that, like Julia, there was more there. It was not just for the show. It's too bad his long-term girlfriend gets dumped. It's real life. If Julia is who he's to be with, then so be it.

Thank you! I was hoping this would be back. This was actually my favorite Yellowstone prequel. I liked 1883, and had no complaints, but this was just so much cooler, with having Spencer's story in Africa, meeting Alex, and his voyage back home.

Elsa said only one of her brothers made it through the Great Depression. John was killed by Banner. Therefore, Spencer lives…and Alexandra’s Royal Family ties will help the Duttons keep the ranch. Whitfield is more than likely a British citizen, or at least has dual citizenship. Therefore, he has no choice but to yield to the Crown's requests.
