Who is the loneliest guy on earth right now?
Anthony Weiner, the NY congressman who claimed his tweeter account had been hacked last week when a lewd photo of his groin was sent from his account, came clean Monday in a press conference admitting that he had lied about the issue. He did send the photo himself and the photo WAS his. His wife, Huma Abedin, did not follow the typical practice to stand by his side during the press conference.
During Weiner’s teary contrite speech, Weiner choked up the most when apologizing to his wife in the conference. Weiner went on unveiling that he had been involved in sexually inappropriate conversations with six women, some of them before his marriage, some after. That’s not the end of it. More dirt has been dug out about the congressman’s salacious online behavior, including his online flirtation with a former porn star and a Vegas blackjack dealer, culminating yesterday when a photo of his namesake was released by a conservative blogger. Since Monday, Weiner has been the loneliest guy on earth.
His wife is not with him, literally. As top aide to Hilary Rodham Clinton, the glamorous and well-liked Huma Abedin went with her boss to Middle East for a one-week trip. Extremely close with the Clinton family, Huma once helped Hilary weather the Lewinsky scandal in 1996, now it is time for Hilary to return the favor by offering her solace. At Monday’s press conference, Weiner said: we are not splitting up on this. It sounded a little pretentious as he hadn’t told his wife about the issue until that morning, leaving Huma barely enough time to digest the shock, let alone to make a solid decision on their future.
