【劇情簡介】

　　很久很久以前，村莊內住著一位漂亮善良的姑娘貝兒，她為了解救被野獸囚禁的父親，被迫與野獸同居於古堡中，他們相處得並不愉快。一次，野獸拚命從狼群中救回貝兒，令彼此間得到了解，野獸漸漸亦變得溫柔，二人不但冰釋前嫌互相體諒，更互生情愫。
　　怎知喜歡貝兒的大壞蛋柏加斯自以為是，突然前來襲擊野獸，令其身受重傷，性命危在旦夕。深愛貝兒的野獸要她離去，不過貝兒並沒有逃跑，反而緊緊與野獸相擁到最後一刻……

【幕後製作】

　　這是第一部獲得奧斯卡最佳影片提名的動畫片，也是第一部票房超過一億美元的動畫片。該片為傳統故事注入了新的生命，女主角不再出自賣弄純真或性感的“夢露”模式，而是一個用知識武裝自己、努力掌握自己命運的可愛女強人。1946年的法國原版乃不朽經典。1997年迪斯尼又發行了錄影帶《美女與野獸：貝兒的心願》(Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas)。

【花　　絮】

　　片中野獸的名字沒有被提到，但根據迪斯尼出版的《迪斯尼百科全書》(Official Encyclopedia of Disney，Dave Smith著)記載，他的名字叫做"亞當"。
　　女主角Belle的原型是Sherri Stoner。
　　《Be Our Guest》這首歌原來是給Maurice，不是給Belle準備的，但是最後製作者覺得把這麽美的一首歌給配角太浪費了。
　　Cogsworth的最後一句台詞"Flowers, chocolates, promises you don't intend to keep..."是為其配音的大衛·奧登·斯蒂爾斯(David Ogden Stiers)的即興發揮。
　　這是第一部在結尾字幕處把片中的主要歌曲進行大串聯的迪斯尼動畫。
　　原本屋頂打鬥和森林追逐兩場戲也想使用電腦技術，但是根據那時的技術水平，隻有完成舞會這場戲的技術處理的時間了。
　　Belle給野獸剪頭時，剪出的發型跟1939年版的《綠野仙蹤》裏獅子的一樣。
　　全片在迪士尼佛羅裏達片場花了一年多的時間，重製成IMAX超大銀幕的膠卷，並且重映版將把當年刪掉的一首歌的片段"Human Again"再度加回來，成為更完整的版本。
