My work place offers free tutoring to those who do not have native tongues. I signed in and got tested. The difficulty increased as the test proceeded. Toward the end there were quite numbers of words unknown to me. On the completion of the test, I asked the tester how often those words were being used. She was a nice, old lady. We had an extended chat. But the answer to my question was interesting. She said, “Educated people use those words. You don’t usually use those words if you are not educated. “ Hmmm…Well, I knew what she had meant.
