Dear Ms.Hayes,

Hello! My name is Emily. I’m so glad you are my 4th  grade teacher.

For summer vacation, I went to Summer Camp. On Mondays, we had gym. On Tuesdays swimming, on Wednesdays to the movies, on Thursdays water play, and on Fridays fieldtrips. I went to summer camp until the end of July. I had a fantastic time there.

Then, I went to Canada with my grandparents. They have a house in Toronto. Besides reading books, watching TV, and playing with my grandparents, I went roller skating every day. First, I put on my elbow and knee pads and helmet on. Then I started to practice standing, balancing, and using the brake pedal to stop. Now I can skate for a long way, and hardly ever fall. Every evening, my grandma, grandpa, and I went to the neighborhood playground. I roller-skated and my grandparents walked. Sometimes, I also rode my bike.

While my grandparents and I were in Canada, we went to Ontario Place. It was awesome! There is a new ride that is a 4D movie. You can feel the water as they show a picture of people riding a crazy wave. You go up and down in the seats when they show a picture of a plane gliding and soaring in the sky. There is also a bunch of super waterslides at Ontario Place. My grandpa and I went down three times. There is one slide that we liked the most. It is 4 stories high. It goes wicked fast and it’s so bumpy. It was so much fun!

The last place I went to for vacation with my family is Cape Cod for a week. The first day we got there, my family and I went for a swim in the salt water at the beach. I could float on the water without using any strength. My grandma and I also collected lots of beautiful shells and rocks. Also, we went to a glass museum. They have a treasure hunt for children. My family and I searched the entire museum, and found everything! I got three marbles for the prize, that’s great! We also went to the factory where they make Cape Cod potato chips. They make a hundred pounds of chips and popcorn every day! Now we understand  how they make potato chips. First, they peel the potato. Next, they cut the potato into thin pieces. Then they fry the chips and add some salt to them. They put all the chips in a filter to check if there are any broken chips. Lastly they put them into bags. Before the end of our Cape Cod  vacation, we went Martha’s Vineyard. My family and I saw lot’s of pretty houses painted with bright colors. They were called “ gingerbread houses ”. We also saw lots of lighthouses and beaches.

Over the summer, I read The Boxcar Children-The Mystery Horse, Marisol, and the 39 clues book  Strom Warning. My favorite one is Marisol. It’s about a girl who loves to dance. Her name is Marisol. Marisol’s family is moving away and she finds out that there is no dance studio in her new town. With the help of her new friend, Karen who lives next door to Marisol’s new home, Marisol convinced a retired dance teacher to teach dance in her new town.

Some things I look forward to 4th is making new friends and learning more math, reading, and writing.

I want you to know that I love to play piano. I’ve already past two national state tests. Also, I learn Chinese culture and art. When I grow up, I want to be a doctor so that I can help sick people feel better.

I hope you had a great summer! Looking forward to meeting you soon.

From Your Student,

Emily
