作者介紹

　　阿瑟·柯南道爾作品經典的偵探小說《福爾摩斯探案全集》，包括《冒險史》係列、《新探案》係列、《回憶錄》係列、《歸來記》係列、《血字研究》、《恐怖穀》、《巴斯克維爾的獵犬》、《四簽名》。
　　柯南道爾在29歲時寫出《血字的研究》，次年出版。兩年之後，柯南道爾出版了《四簽名》。從1891年至1894年的三年中，柯南道爾先後寫出了《波希米亞醜聞》、《紅發會》、《身份案》、《博斯科姆伯溪穀的秘密》、《五個桔核》、《歪嘴男人》、《銀色馬》等24個短篇，並結集出版。1894年底，柯南道爾在《最後一案》中讓福爾摩斯死去。在讀者的呼籲中，他又在1901年寫出《巴斯克維爾的獵犬》。1903年柯南道爾寫出了《空屋》，讓福爾摩斯死而複活，再次活躍在讀者麵前。並先後寫出了《歸來記》、《恐怖穀》、《最後致意》、《新探案》等偵探故事。

　　福爾摩斯是生活在“霧都”倫敦一座簡陋公寓裏的一位極具偵探天才的人物。他善於運用醫學、心理學、史學、邏輯學，重視調查和研究。他目光敏銳，思維嚴密而獨特,是跨時代的名偵探。

◆知識範圍◆
　　華生在剛剛認識福爾摩斯時，還不知道他的職業（偵探顧問），但對福爾摩斯很感興趣，於是他列了一張福爾摩斯的知識麵的清單——
　　01. 文學知識——無。
　　02. 哲學知識——無。
　　03. 天文學知識——無。
　　04. 政治知識——淺薄。
　　05. 植物學知識——不全麵，對莨菪、鴉片和一切毒性植物很有研究。實用的園藝學則全不知道。
　　06. 地質學知識——偏於實用，但也有限度。他在一眼之中就能分辨出是哪裏的泥土。有一次他散步回來，褲子上沾了些泥巴，他事後從泥土的顏色和成分上分析，便指出那泥痕沾於倫敦何處。

　　09. 關於驚險文學的知識——很廣博。他似乎對近一個世紀中所發生的一切恐怖事件都深知底細。
