How do you practice the stress and intonation?

A little add-on here:
The way I practice is I follow the original record sentence by sentence for three times with dictionary and mirror. I start to record my reading three or four times with mirror, and listen to them and find out the one I don't feel comfortable. After that, I go back to the original one for three times or until I can catch up the speed. Then I record my reading without mirror until I am happy or tired or the bedtime.
I am interested to know how others practice the reading.
