when Wu got fired, his dream was broken. all the years of hard work might have come to nothing if he could not find another job. with the mounting pressure from the mortgages in this bad economy, he felt he was a failure, a father that could not provide the best for the kids, a husband that could not buy the best for the wife. he did not want to sell the house where they live to pay for his other mortgages because he did not want to take away the comfort away from his kids and wife. in this economy, his most other properties may be of negative equity and his very salary became the bread and butter for the family on top of paying for the mortgages.
he failed, but he did not want to prove that he failed although he knew he failed and he knew that his aggressive investment (without much cash in hand) failed. he was desperate. panic overtook him. he was angry. he was mad. he saw no other way out. his emotions overpowered his mind. his mental disorder knocked him out. he was devastated. he saw no light in front. he was in rage. all this could be a mental disease that he was unaware of. he was not in peace with himself when he was fired. he became crazy. he wanted to kill. he wanted to kill whoever argued with him. this is not about chinese or indians. or whites, or fairness. this is about mentality. some people are mentally strong and some mentally weak. i believe that Wu now has realized that he committed an unforgivable crime. a crime to humanity. a very sad end to his american dream.
