A man and woman had been married for more than 60 years.
兩人結婚60多年了。
They had shared everything. They had talked about everything.
他們凡事共享，無話不談。
They had kept no secrets from each other except that the little Old woman had a shoe box in the top of her closet that she had Cautioned her husband never to open or ask her about.
老太不讓老頭子碰衣櫥頂上的那個鞋盒---連問一下都不行。 除此以外，兩人沒有任何事情瞞著對方。
For all of these years, he had never thought about the box, but One day the little old woman got very sick and the doctor said She would not recover.
這麽多年來，老頭子都沒有想起過那個盒子，直到有一天老太病重，醫生說老太恢複的希望渺茫。
In trying to sort out their affairs, the little old man took Down the shoe box and took it to his wife's bedside.
老頭在清理各項事務的時候，把鞋盒拿下來放到老太的床邊。
She agreed that it was time that he should know what was n the box.
老太說，也該是老頭子知道盒子裏麵裝的是什麽的時候了。
When he opened it, he found two crocheted dolls and a stack of money totaling $95,000.
老頭打開鞋盒，裏麵有兩個手工織的玩具娃娃，還有一踏錢，數了數，總共有$95,000.
He asked her about the contents.
老頭就問老太這是怎麽回事。
'When we were to be married,' she said, ' my grandmother told me The secret of a happy marriage was to never argue. She told me that If I ever got angry with you, I should just keep quiet and crochet a doll.'
老太說，“我們結婚的時候，我奶奶告訴我，婚姻幸福的秘訣是永遠不要爭吵。奶奶還說，如果我果真生你的氣，就要安靜下來，織個玩具娃娃。”
The little old man was so moved; he had to fight back tears.
老頭感動極了，淚水在眼眶裏麵打轉。
Only two Precious dolls were in the box. She had only been angry with him two Times in all those years of living and loving.
盒子裏才兩個玩具娃娃！ 這麽多年來她才生了我兩次氣！
He almost burst with Happiness.
老頭子心裏漾滿了幸福。
'Honey,' he said, 'that explains the doll, but what about all of this money? Where did it come from?'
“親愛的，經你這麽說，我明白了這兩個玩具娃娃是咋回事了，可是這些錢呢？這錢從
哪兒來的啊？”
'Oh,' she said, 'that's the money I made from selling the dolls.'
“哦，那些是我賣玩具娃娃得來的錢。”老太說。
