上小學二年級的女兒喜歡寫故事。這篇The Legend of the Firebird 被老師稱the best writing in her whole class. 我讀了讀,雖然筆觸稚嫩,不過還是有點味道的。:)
The Legend of the Firebird
Long ago in China, there once lived a little girl named Ann. She lived in a prickly house made of straw and hay. One day, her mother asked her to go into the muddy and flowery pond. Ann obeyed her mother and set off to find some flowers by the pond. Poor Ann tripped and tripped over the crispy, stone-washed side walk. Finally, she got to the dirty, soggy pond. While she was looking for flowers in full bloom, her grey pants got ripped by the edge of some prickly thistles. Ann stopped tripping through the tall grass when she heard a beautiful evening song. She followed the sound, and there perched on a big branched oak tree, was a beautiful firebird! The firebird saw Ann and flew up into the air in horror. Its trail left a shape made out of orange fire clouds. It was a shape of a firebird. Ann gasped. She had never seen such a sight. The orange clouds of dust slowly faded. The firebird disappeared into the mist.
Ann clutched her hat tightly, she stood up and walked to the edge of the rocky cliff. She crawled on the sharp rocks. The rough sharp rocks ripped through her wool made pants. How pain it was! Ann sat down and stared at the sky. It was noon. She got up and stood there. She took her wood-made flute out of her basket and started playing a beautiful tune. The howling wind pressed against Ann's face. her hair looked like gigantic waves in the wind. She closed her eyes. After a few minutes, she opened her eyes. To Ann's surprise, there stood the firebird! Two rusty chains were attached to its wings. Tears streamed down Ann's cheeks like a water fall. Ann ended her song quickly, out of the flute came a loud screeching noise. The firebird struggled even harder. The screeching sound continued. The chain finally fell off. The firebird fell into the pond with a loud splash. Suddenly, the sky turned very dark, not even the moon was there. Ann dropped her flute into her basket. She could only see a orange glow in the water. She ran down the rocky cliff. Ann started running home. This time, she didn't tripped on the crispy side walk. Ann rushed back pulling a boat. Inside were two paddles. She quickly pushed the boat into the water and jumped in. She paddled quickly and soon she approached the glow which was the firebird. She lowered a net and lifted it up. Inside was the firebird! It started rising and rising until it touched the sky. Ann noticed that it was daytime. She realized that the firebird was the sun. She paddled back on shore. Ann took her flute out of her basket. On the flute was a carving of a firebird. She smiled at the sight and started playing the flute......
