The Hero and the Seducer

1. The Hero

Tang was a hero. There are different kinds of heroes. Some people have done something great with people’s knowing, they are the known heroes. Some people have done something special without people’s knowing, they are the unknown heroes.

Tang worked in a steel factory, in the rolling department. He was a short and strong man. There were pimples on his forehead and his lips were large. Girls usually didn’t look at him and consider him not attractive. There were about twenty thousand workers in the factory. He walked in and out of the factory with them, too common to be noticed, as if he was a drop of water in the sea.

The factory was located at the side of a city and he worked in the night-shift. One day, in middle of the night, as he went to the washroom, which was some distance from the shop and located in a slope covered by trees, he saw a girl coming out of the female washroom. He didn’t know the name of the girl but just knew her by the face. It seemed that she worked in the moulding department and a lot of time was working in the night-shift too . When he saw her, he suddenly stopped, as if something had occurred to him. He was in a dark place without light and he made a quick decision and jumped to the side of the path, hiding himself behind a bush. When she approached him, he suddenly jumped out and caught her, with his hand covering her mouth, and dragged her towards the slope.

She didn’t know what was happening and was scared to death. When he dragged her to a certain distance , he started taking off her clothes. By then she realized that somebody was trying to rape her. She started to resist. But because he was strong that she was quickly forced to give up.

After he did it, he threw away her shoes and ran away as fast as his legs could carry him. He returned to the shop after awhile pretending nothing had happened.

The next morning, news flies over the factory that a girl was raped in the previous night. The whole factory was stunned, not because raping had never happened in the factory before, it did happen several times, but because it happened in a critical moment.

The government, seeing that there were too many criminal cases over the country, stealing, robbing, raping and killings, as if the country was in a state of losing control, made a bold decision. It decided to execute a big group of criminals to threaten those who might become one of them. The government even ordered an executed number allotted to each town and city proportionally to the population of the town and city. The larger the population was, the bigger the number was.

The media everyday were talking about “harshly punish the criminals”. Police became extremely busy. The police department in Tang’s city was in despair looking for criminals to be executed because they had to fill up the number. They looked into the cases of some jailed criminals and tried to re-sentence them, in the meanwhile, looked for new ones. They already made the decision to execute some with less serious crimes, just to make up the number. Raping was more than serious to be executed. What Tang did made the police department extremely happy, because they didn’t need to make up one of the numbers, as long as they caught him.

The whole factory thought Tang risking his life raping the girl. People concluded he must be a brave man. People kept saying, “My god, he is risking his life.” “He is the boldest man I have ever seen.” “He is simply a hero.”

The police department started looking for him. Because Tang did it in dark and in such a short period of time, the girl could not give many details. As the investigation went on, the police found out that the girl used to have a boy-friend, with whom she broke up two months ago. He was mad with her and threatened her many times. More importantly, he could not tell where he was the night she was raped. He was arrested, soon confessed that he raped her, of course, with torture. Three months later, he was executed with 49 other criminals.

Tang remained an unknown hero.

2. The Seducer

The chief of the security department of the steel factory, after receiving report that a girl was raped, while informing the police department immediately, went right to the moulding department to ask her questions. After the police arrived, he accompanied them to the spot where the girl was raped and searched the ground attentively.

Since that date he sent people out to patrol at night, especially at the area around the washroom.

Everyday, as long as he had time or as long as the girl was not called away by the police, he would call her to his office and asked her questions, as regarding the size, the height and looks of the rapist. Later on he asked her, after the rapist dragged her to the spot, how he raped her, like how he took off her clothes and how to push her to the ground and so forth.

The girl tried her best to answer him. But it is obvious that her answers were not easy for him to catch the picture. Later he found a better way to figure out the situation. He asked her to consider him the rapist, and showed him how the real rapist did it to her. He dragged her, held her and hugged her, and so on.

They repeated the process. Many times, as he held her, he tried to take off her clothes. He looked at her passionately. And sometimes, he looked desperate.

One day, he called her again. When she reached his office, he was not there. She was wondering where he could be while seating herself at the desk. She found, on the desk in front of her eyes, there was an opened magazine. On the open pages there were pictures of naked men and women, and more surprisingly, they were making love. She realized that it was a pornographic magazine. At that time, pornography was illegal, whether owning or reading. It was very rare, usually brought in from abroad, like Hong-Kong or Macao. Whenever the security department found them, it would confiscate them. The girl, never seeing those pictures before, could not help focusing her eyes on them. After a while, she felt it so interesting that she turned the page.

Sometimes later, the chief came in, closing the door behind him quietly and tiptoeing to her. When she saw him, she flushed. He told her that they needed to repeat the raping process again, as he still had some doubt on the details. The girl was obligated to agree. When he, acting as the rapist, held her, he put her to the floor, and rode on her, and more important, started taking off her clothes.

She didn’t resist.

They did what was on the magazine and, ever since, they started an affair.
