I am happy to report that after 2.5 years, I finally made to Mt. Everest Base Camp and summited Kala Pattar to see the world highest peak as close as I can be. Just came back from a two weeks' trekking in Nepal. I did the tea house trekking with an organized trekking team consisting of 7 men and 4 women. The north America contact of the trekking company that organized this trip is a famous mountaineer, Dan Mazur. He actually trekked with us for the first five days, then he split to lead a 30 climber team to summit Mt. Ama Dablam. The trekking trip is definitely not for the fainted heart (literally), reaching 5540 meters (over 18000 feet) at the top of Kala Pattar. It is a real test of will power, fitness level and stamina. I am proud to say that I passed this test with a flying color, didn't even get AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness). The mountain scenery is breathtaking, the Sherpa people are genuine. I had a blast. Thanks, dztang, for inspiring me to undertake the trip!
