Live in the present

Where do you live? People like to ask you that kind of question, how hard or easy do you find it to answer that? I guess it is easy to come up with a geographical location to satisfy the questioner’s curiosity, how about mentally, where , do, you, live?

P’s birthday party has been “notoriously” fun for all these years. It seems no one is able to turn down his invitation without feeling guilty about it.

 

A lot of friends seriously urged him to run for the office, “reasons are?” he raised his eyebrows like question marks, “’cause you are a people person”. “and?” “you came from ghetto like a lot of us did, you will understand us , feel what we’ve felt, speak for us.”

 

“Gee, you HAVE TO remind me of where I am from? I tried my best to leave that behind me and never looked back. You know what kind of questions I was afraid of others asking – where do you live-that’s definitely one of them, or at least one of the top ten."

 

He used to live in a very bad neighborhood of Bronx, how bad that neighborhood is? Even the toughest brothers would consider it "BAD".

 

After all these years' struggling, he eventually got himself a decent place in the city. "Ha, now I actually love to hear people shooting me the question: where do you live?" He confessed at his own birthday party. "Totally out of inferiority complex." that's the thing about him, P can read/judge himself from an impartial third party's eye while meantime he just indulges himself into the fool's game.

 

You live in the middle of nowhere if you can't live in the current, the past just haunts you and tracks you down. You can run, but you can't hide.
