Life as a freak show

The Rainbow guy quit the company last week. A couple of days before his “due date”, he stopped by my cube. As much as I hated his guts during the pockets of times over the past couple of years, I almost got choked up when he said his parting words. He mentioned that we worked quite closely for some time and he thought I was extremely talented and would be very successful. As a pompous person who sometimes has very low self-esteem, I felt both pleased and sad. I said to him that the same to you. I felt a surge of tenderness because I always suspect that under his obnoxious façade, there might just be a really nice person inside.

The long-awaited departure day of the annoying Rainbow came without the vindication fanfare. And I even lamented for his sake without his ever having the faintest idea. Aint life a freak show??

A Prairie Home Companion – the movie

It’s interesting to see how the famed radio show is like “for real”, but other than that, I thought the movie was bit of a bore. Apparently, I didn’t get it the same way my fellow movie-goers (more a grandma/grandpa crowd) did.

I still have fond reaction toward the show even though I don’t always appreciate all its quirks, its humors ranging from wry to sickly.
