My kind of book review

Fashioning after the categorization of New York Time’s restaurant reviews, in general I put the books I read into these buckets:

 

Classic/extraordinary/absolutely fantastic

Enjoyable/breezy/a good time

Not a complete waste of time/nahh..

Slightly better than crap/huge yawn

Crap/where is that trash can

 

I plowed through the “Birth of Venus” yesterday and it’s a bucket 3 (not a complete waste of time) book. I thought it would be more like “The girl with a pearl earring” (crap) but instead it’s closer in spirit to “The Dante club” (a huge crap).

 

This kind of period drama isn’t really my cup of tea. They are so …. dead and dull. And if I want to find out what happened in history I would much prefer to read a non-fiction.

 

It’s so hard nowadays to find a good book. A book that you can lose yourself into a book that’s going to leave you thinking. But then again I’m a true believer that the more you read, the more likely you will come into a good one, eventually. So I will carry on.
