Living in this small town for almost 3 year, I always hear a familiar music at 6PM; everyday, it has never stopped, as punctuate as the big Ben. I didn\'t know what the music was for when I first heard it, after checking out with flat mate, a local girl who was born and brought up here, I learned that the music is from the Ice cream vender, a van selling ice cream around the town.
Since then, I live with the companion of the ice-cream music day by day. I have never bought one even though I hear it everyday. The music is like an alarm o’clock, as each time, the music starts, I know it is 6pm; it is also like a neighbour that you never see; Today on my way home from work, the music was accompanying the whole way after tube; suddenly I was thinking what if one day the music stops, will that be a life story, “an old man has running this business for years after years not to make money but to visit the kids living here, he has seen so many kids grown up and eventually forget about his ice-cream. The music stops because the old man is sick”
I always imagine how excited the kids would be when they heard the music and would rush out of home for the sweet lick; because that was how I liked ice cream when I was a kid.... Still remember, at that time, there was no ice cream but ice stick, even that every summer after lunch, the most exciting moment was wait for the 5 cents ice stick allowance from mom and dash out of home, the collateral was to have a good nap before school.
Gradually life has been filled with Cappuccino,Mocha, Haagen-Dazs and I have forgot about the ice stick I used to have until this summer I went back again and it tasted so sweet just as it did when I was a kid.
When we are so contended with what we have in our own circles, we seem to forget the plainest life, people and things happen around us. I decided to buy an icecream tomorrow from the vender just try not to be indifferent from what is around me.
