In today's Apprentice show on BBC 1, Sir Alan Sugar fired two people in one go. In the boardroom, one of them simply gave up because he missed his son. It was extraordinary. A man in his thirties even couldn't put himself together, speaking in the most unconvincing manner. Alan Sugar fired him immediately after he finished his sentence with absolutely no sympathy.
I feel for that man. He is so vulnerable. He should not have participated in Apprentice at all. In a way, his failure tells the truth in the business world. You've got to be strong to compete. You've got to fight with your own weakness all way through. You've got to put your feeling aside. If you are a weak person and want to be successful, you have to be ruthless to yourself! Of course, success is not the unique goal in life. But success brings in money and respect. Money and respect expand the your set of choices. If freedom is your goal, a successful career will help in achieving it indirectly.
