MONDAY, 3:20P.M., OFFICE

---Hi, Kevin, going old school today? This was like my mom's favorite song. She used to sing it to me when I was 4 or 5.

---How old are you? That isn't that old.

---I have never heard that song before.

---That's because it is only on 60s oldies but goodies channel.

---Hey 嗨

---Wow, buddy, hey

---(Talk about blast from the past). This song brings back good old days when I was a pilot in Vietman. Don't listen to these kids. They would now know good music if it bit them in the leg. They just do not understand...us.

---US? What us? Bob is like 60 billion years old. I am only.. Oh, my gosh, feels like my 35th birthday only yesterday.

TUESDAY,  9:45A.M., OFFICE

---How is it going? dudes?

---Is it Halloween today?

---Oh, sweet McJaggar's. Kevin, what gives?

---This is called living the dream.

---Dream? Do you want to be a rocker?

---It is on my list.

---Don't you think it is little bit too late for you to join the music industry?

---Late? Better late than never. Shush. Hear that? The clock is ticking.

---No, Kevin is not crazy. He is just having a midlife crisis. My dad went through the same thing a couple years ago. Only he did not start a rock band, he bought a boat. You know the second the midlife crisis hits,  people panic. They just splurge. Now that boat sits in my driveway collecting dust. You know I could sell that boat to Kevin.

---I do not get this. Look at Kevin, he has EVERYTHING, a good career, a big house, happily married with kids. He is living my dream. What else do you want from life.  OK, Kevin. Your dream can wait. It is time to get changed now.  You are gonna be on air in 20 minutes.

---Nah, I do not think so. You guys figure out how to do the show today.

---Wait, us?

---Me, I am going to the boss office to turn in my resignation letter. Out.

---Wait..., resignation... Kevin?

TUESDAY,  10:45A.M., DEAN'S OFFICE

---Kevin, you and I, we go way back.  I can't let you leave like this. I just can't. You are my right-hand man.

---I do not know, Dean. I love this job, but I just do not feel like I'm...fulfilling my dream.  You know, like I got nothing to look forward to for the rest of my life. Feel like it is time to step back, pause, take a second look, buddy.

---I know, I know, go buy a Ferrari, go out drink with the 20-somthings, do whatever you have to do, just do not quit. So you want to give up a six-figure job and become a starving artist becuse it makes you feel young and wild again?  Been there, done that. So these are the souvenirs of my midlife crisis. I quit the job and became a singer and I wrote a lot of songs that nobody would buy. Want to take a listen? Take that back.

---Not so fast, but you are right. In today's economy, a good job is hard to find.

---That is what I am talking about. A midlife crisis comes and goes, but your mortgage is always there.  Listen, I have a music show. It is a new show. It is a format that you could play with, very creative, lots of new artists. Is that something you might be interested in?

NEXT MONDAY, 1 P.M., PARKING LOT

---Hello, look at this, Kevin. Nice car, my gosh.

---I guess you are still with us, Huh?

---Yeah, figured out a way to deal with the old midlife crisis. Just shell out some dough and get it ove and done with.  Plus my wife threatened to make me sleep on the couch if I...you know if I did not put on some real clothes and take out the trash.

---Yeah, good for you. I know you can step out of it.

---Well, listen, I got people to see, places to go. I will see you all later.

---You know, Kevin, a boat makes a really good addition to your cool gadgets.

---Still trying to sell the boat that?

---I am thinking of so much room in my driveway.

Kevin's Thoughts

You do not stop playing old because you grow old. You grow old because you stop playing.  And honestly, age is just a number.  So rock on.
