blue berry picking at Andrew's farm & BBQ at Alice's back yard,J

Romman and his family,Jane and Jonas,Meng and her family,and us went to Andrew's farm to pick blue berries.We met Alice's family at the farm.Totally we had five families all together.

 

At this time, besides blue berries,there are rasberries,black berries and currants ready to pick as well.

 

We rode the wagon to the blue berries patch. We were handed out small baskets then scattered into the huge blue berry patch. We picked the big ones one by one while eating some, it was so sweet and fresh.

 

It was so hot. The blue berry bushes were small bushes around the waist height. There were no shade to hide from the strong sunshine. Thank God I found the tall oak trees in the other side of the patch. I could pick blue berries in the tree shade now. How wonderful it was.

 

Jonas helped me pick some, finally I picked almost one full basket. I didn't realize already two hours passing by,Olive called to finish the picking. He told us we should have lunch. I felt hungry,hot,and tired. It was time to have a break.

 

We gathered under the shade beside the trail to wait for the wagon ride back to the barn. Everybod was tired and hot. Kids were chasing around.

 

Back to the barn,we paid what we have picked. Besides blue berries,I also bought a small basket of currants, a basket of black berry and a bottle of almond jam. Altogether it was $24.

 

There were others products,e.g.fruit wines, all kinds of fruits and veggies, jams,tarts,candies ,flowers etc.Romman and Jane bought assorted mini tarts. They were so sweet.

 

The original plan was that after the picking, we would have a picnic and BBQ at the farm. After discussion, we changed to BBQ at Alice's new house which is not so far from the farm.

 

Alice and her family moved to this house in May. It is a very nice,comfortable and spacious house although it is over 30 years old. And I love its big back yard connected with a park and a trail. A forest is near by with two lakes around. A nice area to live.

 

We had burgers,sausages and the food we brought in, there were tea eggs made by Vivian's mom which was very delicious, I made Cha Shui pork meat, Jane made cold noodles, Alice's mom made seaweed cold dish and her sister made Nian Gao-the sticky rice cake which was very sweet.

 

There were water melon,cantaloup. After food, we went to hike on the inlake trail to the lake. The lake view was so beautiful. And the breeze was so comfortable to brow away the heat.

 

My baby was fussy. She was crying a lot, finally she slept for a while. It was a long day for her.

 

A lovely summer day we spent together. Lovely.Again, eat,love and live....
