going to Feeding with Love program with baby at LAMP,June 4,2012

Monday again, we went to the baby program as usual.

 

Today's topic was Eating together as a family. It is significant to have meals together with your family. Family meals mean at least two people eating a meal together at a home setting. It can be mom and kid, dad and kid, parents and kids etc...

 

Eating meals with family means having more healthy food, bonding with family members, learning more table manners,communicationg with family members.It is healthy way to build up a healthy family.

 

Nowdays, life style changed so much. People get busier than before and tend to eat while driving, walking, on phone, before a TV or a computer, eating more meals by self or dinning out in a restaurant setting. It brings some problems like eating more junk foods, eating too much, lack bonding with family, or even create safety issues.

 

I have very good memories about having meals together with my family when I was young. Those years people rarely eating out in a restaurant. My mom always was busy preparing three meals for us. Back then, people went back home for lunch, lunch break usually was two or three hours. Kids went to school in the morning, went back home to have lunch, took a nap, then went to school again for the afternoon. And people went to grocery shopping everyday to buy fresh veggie or meat. My mom was rushing everyday, went to work, went to free market to buy veggies or meat, went back home to cook, for sure, everybody would eat together on the table everyday nicely for three meals a day. It was good for us to grow up nicely but now I thought about it, I felt mom was too busy and tired everyday just cooking, buying food, cleaning dishes etc.

 

To attract kids to enjoy family meals, there are a few ways to do like preparing not only delicious but also nice looking food, setting up a neat dinning table with some decorations, using white,red or green color utensils for better appetite, cooking all kinds of different food, changing menu etc.

 

So remember, eating together with your family is very good to build up a healthy family. For kids to grow nicely and healthily.
