It was cooking class. Today we learned two recipes, both were good for kids and parents.
The first one was bean and cheese burritos.
Put cooked brown or enriched white rice,can rinsed kidney beans,kernel corn and some prepared salsa in a frying pan, stir over medium heat until warmed through for about 3-4 minutes,then put them on tortillas, sprinkle with cheese then wrap up, put them in a oven for a while then serve with fat-free sour cream and salsa.
It was a yummy,easy to make, rich with protein and calcium food.
Secondly, we made a fruit freeze perfact in a hot summer day.
Put frozen banana, blueberries or other berries or mango with vanilla yogurt in a blender, puree them until consistency of soft ice-cream. A good source of fibre as well as calcium.
Blueberries contain disease fighting properties that may, as part of a healthy diet, help to reduce the risk os certain cansers and heart disease.
