Very Proud of You - Son

Yesterday I had a conference with my second son\'s 1st grade teacher and she gave him a lot of compliments for his being one of the top two students in her class. His teacher is the coordinator for the GATE program and a very responsible teacher. She really cares about kids and she is an excellent teacher. At the end she said,he is very very smart and competent. I am sure he\'ll go far in his future. I feel so proud of him that I can\'t help writing this down to show off and share my feelings.

My second son is a real blessing for us. It wasn\'t a planned pregnancy but everything went well. It was a smooth pregancy and all the love and attention he got even before his birth signaled this would be a really happy boy. He showed intense interest in academics and knew the alphabet before he was two. His older brother just showed him once how to read the words in a book and he just started reading from then. I was worried he might be autistic since he was too attentive. Then a close family friend said there was no way. She said we could tell that he just loved people so it was impossible for him to have autism. And she was completely right. He is a very curious child and he is very kind. I was really touched when his preschool teacher said he has a very kind and gentle nature born with him.

He is an outgoing child and makes friends wherever we go. He is always smiling and brings sunshine to my life even during sad moments. He is sincere and he cares about others. He is a responsible kid who reminds us of certain deadlines for school activities -- that I often forget. He collects all the boxtops and goes door to door to sell things for his school\'s fundraiser even though I said I could buy some myself. He aspires knowledge and reads whenever he finds a book. He takes every opportunity to learn and asks questions. He also likes Chinese school and China. He can recite the text after read it once or twice -- for that his dad is very proud of him, saying just like him when he was young but I know better!

However, he is still a naughty kid and would go away to explore things when he is supposed to be with parents. He is just too indepent sometimes and he has to learn to be careful and protect himself. He got to ride in an ambulance twice!!! Also, his teacher said he still has to learn how to be more organized. I feel guilty when I heard this since I am not good organizing either. I\'ll have to clean up the mess I have at home first. People say a child is the continuation of your life. I just hope he will be able to continue the good part of our personalities and lives. Just as what we have wished for when we named him after a true friend, he is growing to be the person we all love and I hope he will live up to that name.
