X檔案，是調查局的一個部門，那裏麵貯存著幾十年來遇到的無法解釋的超自然現象案件……

探員丹娜-斯嘉麗(Dana Scully)
特別探員丹娜-斯嘉麗不但是一個具備專業技能醫學博士，同時也是一個認為在每一個X檔案背後，都會有一個合理的科學解釋的堅定的理性主義者。然而在X檔案工作的過程中，她看到了許多無論科學或是邏輯都解釋不通的事情，使她的信仰受到了考驗，她漸漸開始相信外星生命存在的事實。
幕後黑手老煙鬼(Cancerman)
老煙鬼代表著在隱秘之處操縱國家的那一小撮人，許多改變曆史的事情都與這群人有關(比如老煙鬼年輕時曾刺殺了肯尼迪總統)，他是莫德的主要對頭之一，此人神秘莫測，沒有名字，由於他手裏永遠夾著一支煙，於是人人都稱他為老煙鬼，而過多的吸煙使他得了肺癌，後來他的名字就索性被叫成“癌人”了。
探員福克斯-莫德(Fox Mulder)

局長助理斯坎勒(Skinner)
身為前海軍陸戰隊隊員的調查局局長助理沃爾特-斯坎勒具有很強的責任感，有時對莫德沒完沒了的古怪調查會失去一些耐心。他曾經不止一次警告莫德和斯嘉麗，稱他們調查的範圍已擴大到危險的程度。他也曾被迫關閉了X檔案，但是後來在自己的職權範圍以內又將其重開。

第一季簡介
九三年九月二十世紀福克斯首播X文件，首集於當年春天開始拍攝。內容為聯邦調查局特別探員史卡利被調入和另一特別探員穆德一同辦理X文件。穆德應其妹莎蔓莎幼年失蹤，懷疑是被外星人綁架而對研究外星人產生興趣，聯邦調查局當局希望藉史卡利的科學觀點把穆德拉回主流。結果是，史卡利也陷入X文件中而不能自拔。本季內容除了外星人，還有不可解釋的自然現象、基因突變的怪獸、古老的咒語與傳說。本季結束於深喉嚨被射殺，X文件被終結。

第二季簡介
本季始於X檔案被終結，穆德與史卡利分別被派給不同的任務，但穆德仍時時注意任何有關X檔案的案件，並常找史卡利幫忙。由於演員姬蓮安德森懷孕，製作人將劇情發展成史卡利被外星人綁架，消失了一陣子。當然，那時候我們的姬蓮安德森跑去醫院生產啦。在不斷的尋找下，史卡利奇蹟似的被送回到一家醫院，自此以後，X檔案進入一新階段。這季主要仍圍著不可解釋的自然現象及外星人打轉，結束於穆德的父親被暗殺身亡，穆德千裏迢迢到新墨西哥尋找證據。

第四季簡介
到這季開始時，X檔案已是家喻戶曉的科幻影集了。雖然仍被某些人認為太過偏激，但在金球獎艾美獎紛紛獲得肯定。今年仍是一貫過去的風格，但加入了許多穆德、史卡利個別的個人生活。穆德的另一資料來源–X在今年死亡。另外一重大發展則是史卡利發現自己患有癌症，住院治療，病情雖穩定住，但仍有危險。本季也介紹了癌人的年輕時代，向觀眾交待他的歷史。本季也包括了一集喜劇，相信看過的朋友都知道。本季結束於穆德在從阿拉斯加調查回來後對生命厭倦，而舉槍自殺。

自殺！？當然不可能啦。經過一暑假漫長的等待，原來穆德和史卡利串通好來騙癌人等人，以等待及發現新證據。本季發展越來越精彩，史卡利被綁架時子宮被移除，但今年卻出現了她的小孩–艾蜜莉。今年製作小組甚至找了兩位知名科幻小說家操筆，客串寫出兩集劇本。另外今年也有一集喜劇。整齣X檔案為了配合電影的上映，加入了一些角色及內容，癌人的集團陰?#092;越來越明顯，穆德再一次接近事實的真相。穆德前女友的出現也對穆德與史卡利間的關係做出重大考驗。今年結束於癌人燒毀了X檔案位於地下室的辦公室。

第八季簡介
穆德失蹤後，史考莉返回FBI總部請約翰·道吉特探員幫忙尋找她的搭檔，但無任何結果。於是，她與史基勒一起找到了孤槍俠，希望能夠發現穆德失蹤時UFO的活動情況以從中找到線索。經過一番調查，他們發現了一個名叫吉布森·佩雷茨的人，但此人身邊那個酷似穆德的家夥實際上隻是境外的一個賞金獵手。鑒於無法找到穆德，FBI決定讓道吉特探員正式接手X檔案，而此時的史考莉在與穆德共事多年後也已相信X檔案中一係列“靈異事件”的真實性，於是她開始了與一個新的“懷疑論”者——約翰·道吉特的合作之旅……

幕後黑手老煙鬼(Cancerman)
老煙鬼代表著在隱秘之處操縱國家的那一小撮人，許多改變曆史的事情都與這群人有關(比如老煙鬼年輕時曾刺殺了肯尼迪總統)，他是莫德的主要對頭之一，此人神秘莫測，沒有名字，由於他手裏永遠夾著一支煙，於是人人都稱他為老煙鬼，而過多的吸煙使他得了肺癌，後來他的名字就索性被叫成“癌人”了。

局長助理斯坎勒(Skinner)
身為前海軍陸戰隊隊員的調查局局長助理沃爾特-斯坎勒具有很強的責任感，有時對莫德沒完沒了的古怪調查會失去一些耐心。他曾經不止一次警告莫德和斯嘉麗，稱他們調查的範圍已擴大到危險的程度。他也曾被迫關閉了X檔案，但是後來在自己的職權範圍以內又將其重開。

第一季簡介
九三年九月二十世紀福克斯首播X文件，首集於當年春天開始拍攝。內容為聯邦調查局特別探員史卡利被調入和另一特別探員穆德一同辦理X文件。穆德應其妹莎蔓莎幼年失蹤，懷疑是被外星人綁架而對研究外星人產生興趣，聯邦調查局當局希望藉史卡利的科學觀點把穆德拉回主流。結果是，史卡利也陷入X文件中而不能自拔。本季內容除了外星人，還有不可解釋的自然現象、基因突變的怪獸、古老的咒語與傳說。本季結束於深喉嚨被射殺，X文件被終結。

第二季簡介
本季始於X檔案被終結，穆德與史卡利分別被派給不同的任務，但穆德仍時時注意任何有關X檔案的案件，並常找史卡利幫忙。由於演員姬蓮安德森懷孕，製作人將劇情發展成史卡利被外星人綁架，消失了一陣子。當然，那時候我們的姬蓮安德森跑去醫院生產啦。在不斷的尋找下，史卡利奇蹟似的被送回到一家醫院，自此以後，X檔案進入一新階段。這季主要仍圍著不可解釋的自然現象及外星人打轉，結束於穆德的父親被暗殺身亡，穆德千裏迢迢到新墨西哥尋找證據。

第四季簡介
到這季開始時，X檔案已是家喻戶曉的科幻影集了。雖然仍被某些人認為太過偏激，但在金球獎艾美獎紛紛獲得肯定。今年仍是一貫過去的風格，但加入了許多穆德、史卡利個別的個人生活。穆德的另一資料來源–X在今年死亡。另外一重大發展則是史卡利發現自己患有癌症，住院治療，病情雖穩定住，但仍有危險。本季也介紹了癌人的年輕時代，向觀眾交待他的歷史。本季也包括了一集喜劇，相信看過的朋友都知道。本季結束於穆德在從阿拉斯加調查回來後對生命厭倦，而舉槍自殺。

自殺！？當然不可能啦。經過一暑假漫長的等待，原來穆德和史卡利串通好來騙癌人等人，以等待及發現新證據。本季發展越來越精彩，史卡利被綁架時子宮被移除，但今年卻出現了她的小孩–艾蜜莉。今年製作小組甚至找了兩位知名科幻小說家操筆，客串寫出兩集劇本。另外今年也有一集喜劇。整齣X檔案為了配合電影的上映，加入了一些角色及內容，癌人的集團陰?#092;越來越明顯，穆德再一次接近事實的真相。穆德前女友的出現也對穆德與史卡利間的關係做出重大考驗。今年結束於癌人燒毀了X檔案位於地下室的辦公室。

第七季簡介
特別探員Fox Mulder在牛津大學修完心理學後，被調查局雇用，事業正一帆風順時，他卻突然將全部精力轉向了超自然事件。在一次催眠中，他回憶到自己失蹤多年的妹妹Samantha在他們還是孩童的時候被一種未知的力量帶走，自此，他對於X檔案中所隱藏真相的追尋著了迷，開始了全身心的調查工作。
