buy or rent - my opinion for Stock vs. RE

Some people believe in Stock market. They rent and put all their hard earned money into stock market.

Some other people believe in Real estate. They buy house and fix-uppers to flip.

I'm neither.

I have a house to live. I believe in quality of life so having my own house in a pleasant neighborhood is important part of high quality of life. But I don't buy investment properties to flip because that's a full time job and I already got one plus my family and kids.

I invest in stocks and mutual funds using whatever money left over from our annual oversea vacations, ski trips, cruise trip, as these are part of my quality of life too.

I'm happy we got enough to maintain a high quality of life yet still have some money left to invest for our retirement. Sorry kids, we are not planning to leave any money for you, just like our parents to us. We'll teach you how to catch fish then you'll be on your own. We'll love you until the last day of our lives and you can always count on us when you face difficult times.
