Life is like a ball. When you hit it harder, it will bounce higher.

Concentrating on breathing, concentrating on walking

Breathing: The patterns surrounding the actual blocks/stutters have a
different breath pattern due to the struggle nature. However, when
you are using technique, you are relaxing the vocal cords
sufficiently at the [and prior to the] onset of speech such that the
block never occurs.
That said, you know how to breathe. You breathe like everyone else.
If you CONCENTRATE on your breath, you will breath a
bit "unnaturally"-- Breathing does not require your concentration. If
you concentrated closely on trying to WALK a certain way--you'd be
very busy and your walk might be a bit awkward... Same thing w/
breathing.. Even though it FEELS like you have a problem, concentrate
on something ELSE other than breathing, and you will not have a
problem--and, I assure you, your body will breathe on its own : )

Mirrors are not important for articulation--you know how to
articulate. They are useful, however, when you get into practicing
phone calls that you are fearful about. It is a good idea to make EYE
contact w/ yourself in the mirror [fear is encoded in eye position]
and try to hold it while you speak w/ technique to the person on the
phone..
