Toastmaster experience

To overcome stuttering, I went to Toastmaters International and become a member two years ago. How can a person who stuttters ccould join the Toastmater club to improve public speaking? How can a person who can not speak sentence fluently in everyday conversion be beneficial from Toastmater?
I do not know the answer at that time. I just feel that I need to improve. I face the challenge directly. I remember that the first time I was attending the club meeting. After the meeting I was asked for comments. I could not speak a word out. However, I asked if I am welcome to come back. I was assured. I went back to the club meeting the second time. I feel that this is the place I should be. I decided to join the club. I asked the club president that if I was welcome to join and I got a positive answer.
I joined the club when I was attending my third club meeting. I gave a brief introduction of myself. to the club. I expressed the driving force for me to come to the club, etc. etc. I stuttered but not as much as I expected.
I did my first speech "the icebreaker" about one month after I joined the club. I wrote down everything I want say. I wrote down the complete script of the speech. When I gave the speech, I just read all of the script. However, I occationally drift away from the script and add or subject something. I remember that during the first speech I used the word of the day. I spoke loudly courageously. I got a very good evaluation after the speech. I have a good start. However, my progress is slow. I did my second speech about two month later.
Although I felt uncomfortable sometimes, I am attending the club meeting regulaly. I kept my goal in my mind. I am seeking every opportunity to learn, to exercise. I got my CTM (Competent Toastmaster award) after one and half a year. Now, I can give a speech very easily. I could give  a speech without much preparation. I just think it over and grab some key points and I am ready to deliver the speech. Although I still have difficulties, I am improving.
Today is the meeting day for my club. As usually, I took Amy with me to the club meeting. Amy is constantly going to the club meeting with me during the two years. What she is interested in is to borrow movie from the library. Every club meeting she borrow three new movies. She is a very good movie picker. She learn a lot from watch movies. She learned how to make a hat by foldering papers from "Blue, the Clue". I was amazed that project.
I was an evaluator this time. I did a good job. Although I could not understand all the meaning of the speaker, I grab some points and did the evaluation. I spoke about 4 minutes. It is one minutes longer than I should be. I will be active and to do the evaluation more and more.
I am enjoying the Toastmater meeting. I will be a life time member.
