時事摘要：
美國國務院在七月份的 Visa Bulletin 中(dated 6/12/07)宣布所有的 EB 類 (except Other Workers) 都 Current，即意味著從七月一日起所有的申請人都能 file I-485。
七月二日，DOS 和 USCIS 分別通告，2007年度的所有移民指標均已分完，從即日起，不再接收 I-485。
七月十七日，DOS 撤回二日之 Update，而 USCIS 亦通告，將繼續接受 I-485 申請並適用現行費率直止 8/17/2007。
手把手幫著填 I-485 和 G-325A

移民局又開閘了，於是大夥兒全來趟這渾水。不管是 140 還沒填的，抑或是 pending 的，更不要說批了的了，尤其是七月二號沒趕上車的，大家一齊衝向 485 高地。
485 填表戰，又開始了！
有的同學過於緊張，簡單的問題也不敢把握，向白老師 (xiaobaitu, 呢稱 XBT, 又稱小白兔 JJ 或 小白兔 MM) 求助的貼子是滿天飛呀！就象北京春天的柳絮。
老師和係主任咬過好幾次耳朵，建議掛個谘詢公司的牌子，向白老師問一個問題的收一毛錢，＂在線等＂的算 Premium Service 多收五分。係主任膽子太小，今天老師還說，我們動手罷！他卻總說道Ｎｏ！——這是洋話，你們不懂的。否則早已發了。
所以老師抄起剪子和漿糊，助白老師和其他大俠一鼻之力。
還沒摸到北的同學，請到那邊去下載 I-485 表格 Form I-485 (Rev. 12/03/09)N Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status (Expires 12/31/2010), 說明書。費 $1,010.
填 I-485 的最基本要求，是作為申請人的你，身處美國境內，且優先日期當前。
誰是申請人？你給父母申請綠卡，你的父母分別是 I-485 的申請人；你申請綠卡帶上了領導和孩子，你、你的領導、還有你的孩子分別是申請人。所以，他（們）的 I-485 是他（們）自個兒的事兒，得由他（們）自己來填、自己簽字。你不能代勞。搞清楚這一點很重要。
還很重要的一點是，申請人此時此刻必須在美國。
如果你想問“能不能給在中國的太太交 I-485”，再讀上麵的幾行，多讀幾遍。
關於優先日期的概念，請看這裏。
哎，慢著。
有的同學就不要填了，如果你是非法入境的，或者 OOS 超出了180天。
公民的父母或配偶，超出了 180 天也沒有關係。但如果是非法入境，隻能等大赦。
那邊磯磯喳喳，喳喳磯磯的同學注意，老師要講重點了。
凡是老師用方括號括起來的，那都是標案，如［標準答案］。是一個字，一個字母也改不得的。金口玉言呀！同學們，一定要牢記在心！
Part 1. Information about you

以前有位叫＂王五＂的同學填了 None。結果名字被改成了＂王 NONE 五＂。這位同學當然不幹了，心想：老子在這兒費了吃奶的勁兒，卻便宜了八杆子打不著的王無五。於是，王同學找移民局去糾錯，前後寫了七七４９封信，打了九九８１通電話，好不容易才改過來。若幹年過去，王同學終於熬出了移民監。收到綠卡一看，沒給王同學氣個半死。其上大名赫赫＂王 N. 五＂。
Address- C/O: in Care of ＂轉交＂。一般不填。用別人的地址時，在這裏填轉件人的姓名。也有人再填一遍自己的名字。用不著麽。

如果你以前交過 I-485，請一定把上麵的 A# 填在這裏。
Alien Number (A#) 又稱 Alien Registration Number，通常在填了 I-485 之後才會有，出現在 I-485 的 Receipt Notice 上。和 SSN 一樣，這個 number 跟著你不會改變的。也有人會在 I-140 的 Approval Notice 上看到，但有時 I-485 的收據上還是給你一個新的 A#.
如果你在別的 I-797 上看到了 A#，請考慮是不是你曾經在填表時，自己錯填過 F-1 OPT/EAD 上的 A#，返回來的。注意：你 F1 申請 OPT 的 EAD 上的 A#，不要填在這裏。
關於多個 A# 的情況，請參考＂關於 Multi A# 的問題＂。

Current USCIS Status: 這是單一選擇題，答案在 Temporary Worker, Student, Exchange Scholar, Visitor 中找。撓頭的同學點 Class of Admission。
Expires on (mm/dd/yyyy): F/J 依 I-94 卡填 D/S, 其它身份有具體日期。
如果身份失效，可仍填最後之身份。如果 OOS 超過 180 天，你的申請會不批，除非是公民的依附人。
Part 2. Application type.

I-130/I-140 的受益人，－－即所謂主申請人

分不清主申請人和副申請人的同學，請去補課。
* 對於 I-130/I-140 尚未批準時，以前是采用下麵選 h 加注的方式。經過商討、思考現予以屏棄。
[h] - I-140 Pending, 把這句話寫在空白處，"Form I-140 currently pending with Receipt# LINxxxx" (LINxxxx 填你自己的號碼)
[h] - I-140 和 I-485 同交，"Form I-140 being filed concurrently with this application"

再說了，又不是 search 你，是 inspect，有什麽害怕的？

這又是選擇題，在給出的答案中挑一個正確的。有的同學填 F1，H4，也沒有任何問題。
以 AP 入境的參考這裏。
Nonimmigrant Visa Number 簽證紙上右下部的紅色號碼，不是右上的 Control Number (有0又有0上一斜杠的)。
順便說一句，老師在國內外簽的證都是８位阿拉伯數字。

日期都是 Receipt Date，沒有收據則用寄出日期。
有同學問，＂那批了的怎麽寫？＂都批了，你還起什麽哄！
B. List your present husband/wife, all of your sons and daughters
尚未成家的同學，和尚未準備成家的同學，在第一個 Family Name 的地方填 [None]，這個問題就可以 pass 掉了。脫家帶口的請接著望下瞧。

為什麽會不一起申請 I-485 呢？1) 在美國生的孩子自動是公民，當然不用了；2) 領導想晚些時候再交 I-485，免得現在就有“移民傾向”；3) Follow to join.
C. 注意：包括入伍，16 歲之前不算。
偉光正同學問怎麽填，老師說不知道。仁者見仁，智者見智。請同學們課下討論，爭個臉紅脖子粗的沒關係，但不要動手。五講四美麽！
－－什麽？早改成七八個代表了？那就代表吧。
填了 CCP，就肯定拿不到綠卡了？－－Nonsense.
如果填了是 CCP，你也許要準備一下怎麽來解釋。這裏有封樣板信。
還有同學問他的 IEEE 填不填，老師說 ＂填 ＂。(老師填了 SFN, SAPPA, NYAS, PS etc 因不僅限於政治團體)
連 AAA 也沒有的同學，填 [None]。有位同學忘了填，留了空，不巧又沒收到 RFE，結果 I-485 被拒。教訓呀！
下一頁，老師沒有一個選 [Yes] 的。

戴過手拷的同學，請閱＂被捕、公眾負擔、中共黨員＂。

有個同學問：我拿過 WIC，填不填？老師認為不填也罷。

老師說過不知道了。這裏有金同學提供的一個 link，值得一看。

個別同學過去為了獲得簽證而胡亂填表，現在要好好地讀一讀這個問題。

如果你的答案是 Yes，老師勸你就別交 I-485了.
不曾是 J 的同學直接答No. 完成了回國服務兩年的同學，寫 "No (complied from 1999/06 to 2001/07)". 申請了豁免的同學寫 "No (I-612 included)".

到此為止，表就都填完了。查查沒有錯，就印兩份出來，先簽上字。留一份存底兒。替 minor 填的表，別忘了還有 I-485 的 Part 6. Signature of Person Preparing Form.
當你的孩子不足14歲時，作為家長或監護人，你可以代簽。另外，還有代填人處也要簽名的。詳情參見＂移民局填表 ABC＂。
79歲以上的老人，可以參見上法。
如果孩子已經14歲了，就必須自己簽名。
注意了，有的同學的計算機裝的是 Acrobat Reader 的話，你的表是不可以 save 下來的。趕緊打，免得丟了還得重敲！
有條件的同學，可以考慮把 G－325A 打印在不同顏色的彩紙上，依此為 White, Green, Pink, Blue. 順序一定不要亂。嫌麻煩就全白好了。
除了那張支票，還得要照片。美國的護照照片，比中國的護照照片要大。很多商店都可以照，像 CostCo，Kinkos，RiteAid，甚至郵局，基本上是立等可取。老師是 DIY, 自拍花了十九秒，用 PS 編輯又花了一小時零九分，開車去 CVS 路上十九分鍾，最後花了一毛九印。
每個人要２張。帶眼鏡的同學注意了，如果像片上的你的眼鏡反光，造成看不清你的眼睛的嚴重後果，那照片會要被打回來的。
別忘了在照片背後用鉛筆寫上你的名字(or A# if you have)，鉛筆寫不上的話，就用 ballpen 輕些寫。
每位同學的 Supporting Documents，會略有差異，下麵是個大概齊的 checking list。
I-485 寄件地址，取決於申請人的住址，與 I-130/I-140 的類別相關。
移民局在 2/25/10 更新了 I-485 的表格，以及交表地址。
新表格的版本號為 Form I-485 (Rev. 12/03/09)N Expires 12/31/2010. 原來的表格已不適用，原來 EB 的交表地址已經變更。
費用無變。
上麵是單獨提交的 I-485 的申請地址，與 I-130/I-140 同交的 I-485 跟著 I-130/I-140 走。
I-485 的申請費是 $1,010.
不到 14 歲的申請費，單獨提交是 $930, 與家長同交為 $600.
79 歲及年高者的申請費是 $930 （Instructions 上刪去了此條，但網頁上仍有 -- Applicants 79 years of age or older are not charged a biometric fee; the fee total is $930）。
AP/EAD 的申請（包括延期）均無費。
另外，移民局提供了 G-1145 表格 (link)，讓申請人可以通過 email 或 text message 來及時得知 I-485 的接受。申請人填完 G-1145 表格之後，用別針附在 I-485 的首頁即可。
此項服務無費。
到郵局找個 Priority Mail 的 Flat Rate Envelope，填張 Delivery Confirmation 的綠條，一共是 $4.6+0.65 = $5.25。兩到三天到。是否用 Certified Mail 還有 Return Receipt，同學們自己定好了。
想用 FedEx 或 UPS 等 private carriers 的同學，不要用上麵的 P.O. Box 郵箱，得改成街道地址，帶門牌號兒的。
扯兩句關於填表的閑談。Information 貴在真實，其實做人不也是？不是有同學報 H1 時填高了工資，簽證時報底了學位，現在不正愁得不可開鍋？老師沒有幸災樂禍之意，隻是覺得倘若給那樣做的同學 second chance，他們一定回 make different decision。一孔之見了。
時間有限，老師難免講一漏十，請多多包涵。未及牽扯進來的，同學們請先查查老貼。看到頭頂上的＂輸入關鍵詞＂了麽？敲入要找的信息，回車就行了。想查白老師的回複，用關鍵詞 "xiaobaitu"，勾＂按作者＂後麵的方框框，再回車，就行了。
耐點心，仔細查，十有八九你會找到答案的。實在是找不到答案時，再去麻煩白老師。想想真的是不容易，幾多風雨呀。鐵打的教室，流水的學生，仍舊兢兢業業堅守在這裏，胖大海都不知泡掉了幾大包。喔，是鍵盤都不知使壞了多少個。瞧瞧首頁頭頂上的那四張照片，有誰能象白老師那樣？

誰是申請人？你給父母申請綠卡，你的父母分別是 I-485 的申請人；你申請綠卡帶上了領導和孩子，你、你的領導、還有你的孩子分別是申請人。所以，他（們）的 I-485 是他（們）自個兒的事兒，得由他（們）自己來填、自己簽字。你不能代勞。搞清楚這一點很重要。
還很重要的一點是，申請人此時此刻必須在美國。
如果你想問“能不能給在中國的太太交 I-485”，再讀上麵的幾行，多讀幾遍。
關於優先日期的概念，請看這裏。

有的同學就不要填了，如果你是非法入境的，或者 OOS 超出了180天。
公民的父母或配偶，超出了 180 天也沒有關係。但如果是非法入境，隻能等大赦。

Alien Number (A#) 又稱 Alien Registration Number，通常在填了 I-485 之後才會有，出現在 I-485 的 Receipt Notice 上。和 SSN 一樣，這個 number 跟著你不會改變的。也有人會在 I-140 的 Approval Notice 上看到，但有時 I-485 的收據上還是給你一個新的 A#.
如果你在別的 I-797 上看到了 A#，請考慮是不是你曾經在填表時，自己錯填過 F-1 OPT/EAD 上的 A#，返回來的。注意：你 F1 申請 OPT 的 EAD 上的 A#，不要填在這裏。

尚未成家的同學，和尚未準備成家的同學，在第一個 Family Name 的地方填 [None]，這個問題就可以 pass 掉了。脫家帶口的請接著望下瞧。

當你的孩子不足14歲時，作為家長或監護人，你可以代簽。另外，還有代填人處也要簽名的。詳情參見＂移民局填表 ABC＂。
79歲以上的老人，可以參見上法。
如果孩子已經14歲了，就必須自己簽名。
注意了，有的同學的計算機裝的是 Acrobat Reader 的話，你的表是不可以 save 下來的。趕緊打，免得丟了還得重敲！
除了那張支票，還得要照片。美國的護照照片，比中國的護照照片要大。很多商店都可以照，像 CostCo，Kinkos，RiteAid，甚至郵局，基本上是立等可取。老師是 DIY, 自拍花了十九秒，用 PS 編輯又花了一小時零九分，開車去 CVS 路上十九分鍾，最後花了一毛九印。
每個人要２張。帶眼鏡的同學注意了，如果像片上的你的眼鏡反光，造成看不清你的眼睛的嚴重後果，那照片會要被打回來的。
別忘了在照片背後用鉛筆寫上你的名字(or A# if you have)，鉛筆寫不上的話，就用 ballpen 輕些寫。

上麵是單獨提交的 I-485 的申請地址，與 I-130/I-140 同交的 I-485 跟著 I-130/I-140 走。
I-485 的申請費是 $1,010.
不到 14 歲的申請費，單獨提交是 $930, 與家長同交為 $600.
79 歲及年高者的申請費是 $930 （Instructions 上刪去了此條，但網頁上仍有 -- Applicants 79 years of age or older are not charged a biometric fee; the fee total is $930）。
AP/EAD 的申請（包括延期）均無費。
另外，移民局提供了 G-1145 表格 (link)，讓申請人可以通過 email 或 text message 來及時得知 I-485 的接受。申請人填完 G-1145 表格之後，用別針附在 I-485 的首頁即可。
此項服務無費。
到郵局找個 Priority Mail 的 Flat Rate Envelope，填張 Delivery Confirmation 的綠條，一共是 $4.6+0.65 = $5.25。兩到三天到。是否用 Certified Mail 還有 Return Receipt，同學們自己定好了。
想用 FedEx 或 UPS 等 private carriers 的同學，不要用上麵的 P.O. Box 郵箱，得改成街道地址，帶門牌號兒的。
扯兩句關於填表的閑談。Information 貴在真實，其實做人不也是？不是有同學報 H1 時填高了工資，簽證時報底了學位，現在不正愁得不可開鍋？老師沒有幸災樂禍之意，隻是覺得倘若給那樣做的同學 second chance，他們一定回 make different decision。一孔之見了。
時間有限，老師難免講一漏十，請多多包涵。未及牽扯進來的，同學們請先查查老貼。看到頭頂上的＂輸入關鍵詞＂了麽？敲入要找的信息，回車就行了。想查白老師的回複，用關鍵詞 "xiaobaitu"，勾＂按作者＂後麵的方框框，再回車，就行了。
耐點心，仔細查，十有八九你會找到答案的。實在是找不到答案時，再去麻煩白老師。想想真的是不容易，幾多風雨呀。鐵打的教室，流水的學生，仍舊兢兢業業堅守在這裏，胖大海都不知泡掉了幾大包。喔，是鍵盤都不知使壞了多少個。瞧瞧首頁頭頂上的那四張照片，有誰能象白老師那樣？
