陽陽的腦子太好使了。

Today he wanted to play cars, and I didn't have time to bring out the big box of cars for him to play, so I suggested that he play with some trucks. Those were a set of wooden trucks that he had not seen for a few months because they were stored in a different closet. Yangyang was excited. He got three trucks--a tow truck, a dump truck, and a pickup truck. After playing with them for a few minutes, he asked, "where are the logs in this truck?" He was asking about the three pieces of wood blocks that could fit in the pickup truck. Those blocks were stored in the big box of cars, and had not been put together with the trucks for close to a year. I didn't expect him to remember that there were blocks to go with the pickup truck at all. I told him we could look for the blocks in the big box. We dug around the box, and I found two pieces. He saw a wooden mixer in the box, and took it out, saying "same", meaning "this mixer is in the same set as the other three trucks". He was correct! I bought the four wooden trucks together at Target last year, and he only had played with them for a few days at the beginning. I was amazed that he could categorize so accurately. He also saw a tiny car on the bottom of the box, and picked it out, saying something like, "it should go into the ziploc bag that contains the other tiny cars in the same set". He is just like me--he likes to put categorize things and put them in order. At that point, we were both distracted. I handed him the two pieces of blocks and the mixer. He put them on the floor, saying, "where's the red block"? Oh my! How did he even remember that there were supposed to be three blocks, and the missing one was red??? After all these months (he was only 2 and 8 months), and after all the distraction with the mixer and the tiny car? So I found the missing block, and he ran outside happily with the three blocks. Before I could put away the big box, he ran back, asking, "where's the mixer?" Nothing escapes him.

玫玫太靈氣了。

She was crawling all over the carpet now. I put her down to play on the mat, and I turned around to do some housework. She was very upset to see me go. She abandoned all the toys I put in front of her, and started to crawl toward me. I was a long way away from her, and she was still crawling on her tummies. As she crawled with great effort, she cried out desperately. I had to stop whatever I was going to do and pick her up. She instantly began to smile.

When we were out today, a few people stopped to look at her. They thought she was really cute, and smiled at her. Meimei did not smile back right away. She looked at the strangers, then she looked at me, seeing that I had indicated her to smile, she turned her gaze back at the stranger and smiled brightly. What a emotionally smart baby!

I'm so lucky to have the two most wonderful children in the world!
