今天是基督降臨預備主日， 是聖誕以前的第四個主日。教會的曆史傳統， 在這一段時間，為了基督降臨人世和他每天臨到我們的生命中， 以及基督在末世再次來臨做準備，思考基督降臨給我們的生命帶來怎樣的希望和改變。
基督帶來世界的光， 能穿透靈魂的黑暗，跟從他的就脫離黑暗， 有了生命的光。 牧師舉了個例子，為什麽有人不喜歡光，喜歡黑暗， 因為黑的時候， 看不見房間有垃圾需要清掃，因此可以什麽都不做。 而喜歡光照的人， 就能看見垃圾，就得清掃灰塵垃圾。
黑暗的危險很大， 因為看不見前頭的路，等於是瞎子一樣。聖經形容這些人的生命光景： 2 Corinthians 4 v4 “The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God”.
但神使生命的光在信他的人心中閃耀： 2 Corinthians 4 v6 ： “For God, who said “Let light shine out of darkness” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ”
要經曆他的光照在我們生命中， 需要我們選擇去把燈的開關打開。 這是神和人的一個奇妙的合夥事業。 But just like every light needs to be switched on, it’s the same with the light of Jesus Christ. We still need to touch the switch if we are going to experience His light in our lives.
這個開關就是我們的思想內容的選擇。今天這個主日就是一個好機會思考基督為我們生命帶來了什麽。通過以賽亞先知的預言可以來進行這樣的思考。 Advent is a great opportunity for doing this. There are many ways we do so. One is by reflecting on the prophecies of the coming Messiah. Like this one in Isaiah chapter 9.
以賽亞 先知所在的時代是猶太人內憂外患的時代， 當時猶太人分裂成南國猶大和北國以色列。南國猶大國麵臨的情況是，內有亞哈斯王的殘酷統治， 外有亞述和以色列入侵的威脅。但人們不是轉向神， 卻轉向神秘巫術。如常言說的：“當人們不信上帝時， 他們不是什麽都不信了， 而是什麽都信。”
神差以賽亞先知向這個黑暗的時代宣告說：
9 章 2 節 . “The people walking in darkness have seen a great light” That “on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned”. 在基督降世前，神的光對於接受他的人已經存在了。 今天， 基督已經降臨世上， 可人們仍然並不承認他就是世界的光。 John 1 v9 says “The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world. He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him”.
神不強求任何人接受他， 而是給了每個人掌握開關的權利，自己作出選擇， 是否點亮心中的那盞燈。
聖經描述了人們不接受光進入他們生命的原因，因為他們選擇躲在黑暗中，不願看見和清掃垃圾，不願使邪惡的行為曝露在光明之下。 John 3 v19 “This is the verdict. Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.”
但是，如果你不喜歡垃圾，喜歡光，又怎麽樣呢， 聖經接著說： (v21) “But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God”. 這是說， 你若不喜歡垃圾， 最好是打開燈， 行在光明中， 讓人看到神在你生命中行了妙手改造的奇事。神要以賽亞先知和今天的我們都這樣做。
這意味著什麽呢，神要我們作什麽呢。他差以賽亞宣告這個信息： “to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be upon His shoulders”.
掌權執政的是耶穌基督，責任在他肩上。 那麽， 我們是象我們對待和我們意見不同的政府那樣， 僅僅容忍他的存在呢， 還是多大程度上同意自己生命被他掌管。 這是一個重大問題。如果人們看不清上帝掌權給他們帶來的無盡益處，就不可能給他們熱愛黑暗的思想帶來挑戰。
聖經說過神的兒女要活出一個不同的生命， 因為上帝掌管，他們的生命能像星星在夜空中閃耀。 Philippians chapter 2 v15 it tells us to live as children of God – as those who are under His reign and rule. “To live as children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word of life”.
